Diagnostic Laparoscopy
Diagnostic laparoscopy is a surgical procedure used to diagnose a cause for abdominal problems like hernias, infection, obstruction, and tumor when history, physical examination, and other diagnostic test fail to give an answer. Diagnostic laparoscopy uses a medical telescope through a small incision in the abdominal wall to allow your surgeon gain a view of the inside of the abdomen. Other instruments are usually placed through other small incisions to facilitate the exploration of the abdomen.
Much of the time diagnostic laparoscopy can be performed as a day-surgery, allowing the patient to recover at home.
