Division of Transplant Surgery
Since West Virginia University began its Transplant Surgery program in 1987, its focus has been on providing comprehensive care of renal transplant patients. The multi-disciplinary transplant team consists of transplant surgeons, transplant nephrologists, transplant coordinators, social workers, psychologists, and financial coordinators. In addition, the team works closely with specialists in cardiology, hematology, hepatology, immunology, infectious disease, laboratory services, nutrition, organ procurement, pathology, pharmacy, and radiology. The goal of the Transplant Surgery Program is to provide comprehensive renal transplant care to adults and children in West Virginia and the surrounding region, so that they do not have to travel out of the area to receive the care they need.
