Greetings from Dean Georgia L. Narsavage

I am delighted to have been chosen as the new Dean of the West Virginia University (WVU) School of Nursing. We are truly building on a legacy in nursing higher education. WVU has all that I have looked for in a University: expert faculty, exceptional students, supportive staff, and remarkable resources. WVU School of Nursing is the place for you to become a nurse who makes a difference!

We are excited to be involved with our colleagues in the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center in implementing a vision for health care in the 21st century, founded in WVU's history of excellence and service, with true social responsibility. Nursing faculty and students are bringing nurses, nursing education and research, and advanced practice health care to serve the public in both urban and rural areas. Over 80% of our graduates stay in-state, meeting the nursing workforce needs of West Virginia.

The WVU School of Nursing remains committed to providing the highest levels of undergraduate professional nursing education, while expanding opportunities for graduate education. Our MSN program continues to to prepare Nurse practitioners forWV with faculty who are experts in using technology with "high touch" skills. Additionallythis year we are launching two new doctoral programs, a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) - the highest level of nursing practice, and the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) that evolved from the DSN for nurses desiring a research career. Our programs are committedto building access with success throughout the state - regional campus support for undergraduates, totally online MSN and DNP programs, and a summer option for the PhD.
