Horizon Wimba Live Classroom

Teach and meet live online. Live Classroom features live virtual classrooms that support audio, video, application sharing, and content display, enabling instructors to add vitally important elements of interaction that simply cannot be provided in a text-based course.

Since adopting this technology in Fall 2006, we have successfully personalized online courses by holding live, online classes, guest lectures, and meetings. Our instructors consider personal interaction to be the most valuable element of the teaching and learning process.

Live Classroom allows faculty and students to build relationships by combining state-of-the-art interactive technologies such as voice, video, application sharing, polling, and whiteboarding, with traditional best practices of instruction.

Wizard
To make sure that your computer is ready for training or class, please click Wizard to launch the Horizon Wimba Wizard. This wizard will guide you through a series of tests on all components needed by the program. Depending on the speed of your computer and your internet connection, the Wizard may take a few minutes to complete.

Training Courses
Faculty, learn how to use Live Classroom with live public online and archived training sessions. These training sessions are great for new presenters, those who want to brush up on skills or who want to train others.

Introduction to Horizon Wimba Live Classroom
Dr. Lynne Ostrow, Associate Professor, has created and archived an introduction to Live Classroom via Mediasite Webcast. Please click the above title for Dr. Ostrow's introduction presentation.

Request Your Classroom (Presenters Only)
WVU OIT will create a classroom, within your eCampus account, through Horizon Wimba. This does not mean that they will upload the information needed for the class. All preparations are done by the presenter prior to class time. There are times when the servers may be overloaded, so get your requests in early.

Compatibility Requirements
Do you have what you need? Your operating system (Windows Vista, XP, 2000/Mac OS X, 10.4, 10.3), browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox) and Java are critical elements to maximizing your Live Classroom experience. Compatibility requirements will list everything you need, including headset, to be ready for your first class.

Horizon Wimba Support
If after troubleshooting and running through the Wizard successfully, contact Horizon Wimba Technical Support 24/7. You may call (866-350-4978), email your situation technicalsupport@horizonwimba.com and/or chat online with an operator.
