PhD Required Courses

The 55 credit part-time program can be completed in four years plus the dissertation. Students attend class two days a week in Morgantown, WV for a six-week summer semester taking 6 credits of core nursing courses for four summers.  Up to 18 hours of cognate/electives can be taken in the fall and spring semesters at a school near the student's home.

The full-time program is 59 credits and can be completed in two years plus the dissertation. The dissertation will be on an arranged basis.

Three curricular components comprise the 55 credits of post-master's course work.  These are core, cognate/electives, and dissertation.

Additional requirements include two examinations: qualifying examination after completion of all core and cognate/elective course work, and dissertation oral examination. Required visiting scholar lectures are offered in the fall and spring semesters.
