2006 Strategic Plan and Goals

The WVU School of Nursing Alumni Association will:
1.	Promote and advance the interests and welfare of the WVU School of Nursing.
	A.	Identify fundraising goals and opportunities that will support and facilitate the interest and activities of the WVU School of Nursing, of the Alumni Association, and the profession of nursing.
		I. Support the development of an interdisciplinary Learning Resources Center, a portion of which could be named to honor of Patricia Diehl.
		II. Work within the capital campaign to highlight School of Nursing objectives.
	B.	Support the implementation of the doctoral program in nursing.
2.	Foster a spirit of fraternity and loyalty among students, graduates, faculty, honorary alumni, and friends.
	A.	Support continuing education for nursing and other Health Science Center Alumni throughout the state.
	B.	Provide regular opportunities for communication and interaction among members.
		I. Support social events sponsored by the School of Nursing and other Health Science Center alumni.
		II. Increase visibility of the SON Alumni Association.
		a. Identify alumni to serve as role models and mentors for SON classes and/or WVUSNA events.
		b. Use available avenues to publicize or communicate public activities.
3.	Expand the resources needed for the SON Alumni Association to accomplish its goals.
	A.	Increase active membership to 50% of all graduates by the year 2005.
	B.	Increase participation of the membership in planned activities, Board of Directors, and Association Committees.
	C.	Establish a sound financial base for the association.
		I. Develop a regular plan for money management.
