The purpose of this program is to provide seed grants to enable faculty members to begin new
research ventures. These pilot studies can assist in obtaining preliminary results on which a
subsequent proposal for outside support may be based. Programs that show a specific strategy
for using the grant to leverage larger-scale, long term research support will be given preference.
