AMERICAN LUNG ASSOCIATION WALK FOR LIFE AND BREATH
Saturday, April 25, McQuain Park! Registration begins at 9a and the walk will be at 10! We were the top team last year and we want to do it again this year! There will be lots of food and fun and entertainment for the kids. Coach Bill Stewart and our new Mountaineer are planning to attend - great photo opportunities for you and your kids. Pets are totally welcome. Put on your red SON t-shirt , bring your friends, your kids, your pets and pledges to walk with us on Saturday, the 25th. Please e-mail Roger rcarpenter@hsc.wvu.edu to get a form for pledges and forming teams!

CULTURE AND HEALTH SEMINAR OFFERED FALL 2009
The exciting, interdisciplinary, and interactive seminar on culture and health will be taught during the Fall 2009 semester. This elective graduate course is open to all HSC graduate students and to senior SON undergraduate students. A GREAT IDEA! YOUR NURSING SCHOOL JOURNEY IN 3 PHOTOGRAPHS!

THE MUSHROOM PROJECT NEEDS YOUR HELP!
Two of our nursing students, Bill Grieb and Macy Miller are involved with the MUSHROOM Project, a medical outreach for the homeless population of Morgantown. They have been collecting clothing for the homeless and want to get the SON involved. Collection boxes are located in Health Promotion and Restoration. The collection needs at this time are socks for men/women, boxers, women's underwear, hair conditioner and deodorant. Please contact Macy, mmille22@mix.wvu.edu for more details or to get involved. You can purchase 10 pair of socks at the local dollar stores for $5. These needs are so basic - can you help?

at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland MD. Click here for more information and directions to request an application packet. Application deadline: April 30.

JOIN ENERGY EXPRESS TEAMS THROUGHOUT WEST VIRGINIA
Work in your home county and earn a stipend of $1600 and an additional $1000 toward your tuition at WVU! Energy Express is an 8-week AmeriCorps summer service program that serves children living in rural and low-income communities. There are two positions available at each site and there may be multiple sites in each West Virginia county. The first position, a College-Student Mentor, creates an enriching environment focused on reading, writing, and art that makes learning fun for a small group of school-age children. The Mentor also eats breakfast and lunch with the children. The second position, a Volunteer Coordinator, connects the parents and community to the site by recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers to read with children and support other activities at the site. Candidates are required to serve on-site every day for at least 6 hours and to serve some evenings and weekends. Training is provided. Energy Express is an award winning AmeriCorps program.

The position entails working with children 5 to 6 hours a day, from June 15 to August 7. In addition to the stipend and educational award listed above, participants are awarded 300 volunteer hours through AmeriCorps. There is also an opportunity to earn college credit. KEEP BRINGING YOUR USED PC CARTRIDGES TO HEALTH RESTORATION
We continue to raise funds for the Humane Society – The small pc cartridges we are donating are worth around $1 and the large cartridges bring in $4 each – This continues to be a worthwhile project, saving the animals and the landfill as well. The Humane Society truly appreciates your efforts! This is a year round project! Unfortunately, the need never goes away!
