WATER WALK TO BE HELD APRIL 23, MOUNTAINLAIR

Amizade is proud to announce that the second annual "Water Walk" event in
Morgantown is being held on April 23, 2009 beginning at the Mountainlair. This year,
Amizade has partnered with Nuru - a grassroots humanitarian organization dedicated to
solving global poverty - and their "Be Hope to Her" (BH2O+) campaign.
The BH2O+ event involves volunteers walking with buckets of water to visually
symbolize the thousands of African women and girls who bear the responsibility of
water retrieval from often unclean and distant sources. BH2O+ will educate individuals
on the plight of women in Africa created by the lack of accessible clean drinking water
and raise funds for organizations that have the infrastructure and technology to provide
clean drinking water to African communities.
By participating in the BH2O+ Water Walk, you will help bring about lasting and powerful
change in the lives of 1.1 billion people that lack access to safe drinking water in Africa.
Funds from this event will be spent on drilling new wells much closer to households in which
women must walk great distances for their water. The construction of deep water wells in
schools can dramatically reduce the spread of disease by providing clean drinking water
and facilities for hand washing.
The cost to participate is only $5 for women and free for men. In addition to these
personal registration fees, a national donor will provide $10 per registered participant.
To sign up, please go to

hours as well. This is a great opportunity for community service hours and to be involved
in a research study. If you're interested and for more information, please contact

Project, a medical outreach for the homeless population of Morgantown. They have been
collecting clothing for the homeless and want to get the SON involved. Collection
boxes are located in Health Promotion and Restoration. The collection needs at this
time are socks for men/women, boxers, women's underwear, hair conditioner and deodorant.
Please contact Macy,
