The purpose of this orientation is to get everyone up to speed on the expectations and requirements for the Junior year, prior to the first day of classes. Orientation begins Friday, August 15, 9a - Skills Lab (Room 3016 HSC-N) and will run through Sunday. Please refer to your letter for more specifics.

EXCITING NEWS!!!
The School of Nursing has been awarded an RWJ grant, New Careers in Nursing Scholarship Program, for $50,000! The grant period is September 1, 2008 - August 31 2009. Great news! Congratulations to all who worked on this grant!

MOUNTAINEER VISITATION DAY TOUR GUIDE
WVU's Office of New Student Orientation is seeking outgoing individuals who love WVU and wish to make a difference for future students of WVU by becoming a Mountaineer Visitation Day tour guide. The office will be hiring approximately 15 to 20 students to serve as student tour guides for West Virginia University's Mountaineer Visitation Days (MVDs). MVDs are open houses for prospective students and their families. By attending a Mountaineer Visitation Day, prospective students are able to experience firsthand the exciting programs WVU has to offer its students. During their visit, they will have the opportunity to speak with various faculty members and students, tour the campus, and visit one of our residence halls for lunch. Candidates should have excellent communication and listening skills, be able to work independently without direct supervision, and have a desire to represent WVU. For more information and to apply please visit our website at

A GREAT IDEA FROM SNA IF YOU PLAN TO DO SOME TRAVELING THIS SUMMER!
Please bring the toiletry items (shampoos, soap, even the instant coffee) you collected from the hotels you stayed in. You can bring these items back to school and place them in the collection box in Academic Affairs (in front of Brandy's desk) when you get back to school. SNA will donate these items to the Bartlett House. Thanks so much. Michelle L. Ryan is the SNA President, 2008-2009.

EMPLOYMENT, SCHOLARSHIPS, COMMUNITY SERVICE AND VOLUNTEER HOURS/OPPORTUNITIES!
This section is not an endorsement by WVU or the School of Nursing for any of these opportunities or their sponsors/requestors. Students are advised to carefully explore any opportunity prior to engaging in any volunteer, community service, or employment activity.

KEEP BRINGING YOUR USED PC CARTRIDGES TO HEALTH RESTORATION
We continue to raise funds for the Humane Society – The small pc cartridges we are donating are worth around $1 and the large cartridges bring in $4 each – This continues to be a worthwhile project, saving the animals and the landfill as well. The Humane Society truly appreciates your efforts! This is a year round project! Unfortunately, the need never goes away!
