CHANGE IN LIBRARY HOURS:
The Health Sciences Library will be closed on Saturday and Sunday, August 14 and 15, as well as the following weekend, August 21 and 22. Additionally, the library will be closing at 5:00 PM on Fridays through the month of September. Current hours will be posted in the library and on the library website at www.hsc.wvu.edu/library.
PYLONS ENTRANCE AND
LIBRARY/LEARNING CENTER UPDATE:
The construction site for the new library and learning center at the WVU Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center will be fenced in this week, leading to changes in pedestrian and vehicle traffic patterns on the campus. The main entrance to the Health Sciences Building, the Pylons entrance, will be closed to foot traffic for 14 to 18 months. Pedestrian access to Health Sciences North will be through the Family Medicine/Dentistry entrance on the first floor, and through ground-floor entrances by the Health Sciences Post Office and at the rear of the building. Vehicle traffic will be re-routed, as the construction site will include part of the roadway that passes in front of the Pylons. Work is also under way to renovate the Health Sciences Library. All of the traditional library services will be available at the circulation and reference desks during the renovation. Read more about the renovation at http://www.hsc.wvu.edu/library/construction.htm

NEURO REVIEW COURSE:
WVUH is sponsoring a 2 day Neuro Review Course on Sept. 8-9, 2004, in the John Jones Conference Center. The course is designed to prepare nurses to take the CNRN certification exam on October 30. Speaker for the review course is Ellen Barker, who is nationally recognized and boasts a 100% pass rate for exam takers. The course is also a great source of knowledge for nurses, and you do not need to be sitting for the certification exam to attend the course. Cost is $100 for WVUHS employees, $125 for HSC and WVU employees, and $150 for all others. Call 598-4063 to register.
SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY:
The West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission has announced the availability of $10,000 scholarships for nurse practitioner students. To be eligible, students must be in the final year of a primary care educational program for nurse practitioners. Program participants are required to practice primary care for a minimum of two years in an underserved area of West Virginia upon completion of training. The application deadline is October 15, 2004, and application packets are available in the Office of Student Services.
COMMUNITY SERVICE

After school volunteers are needed to care for the 13 year old, semi-disabled son of a single mother in Cheat Lake. He uses a wheelchair for transport, but does not require its use in his home. Job consists of getting him off the school bus and watching him from 3 pm to 5:30 pm. Possible diaper change would be required, but otherwise he does not require much assistance. For more information, call Sharon Offutt at 598-2200, ext 135 (work) or 594-3836 (home after 5:30 pm).
BLOOD DRIVE:
Earn community service hours by participating in the blood drive: Wednesday, August 18, John Jones Conference Center, 7 am to 6 pm. For an appointment, log on to http://www.redcrosslife.org. Free tie-dyed T-shirts will be available while they last.

just service hours.” Thanks to John and the other WVU students for
participating in this very worthwhile experience.
