HOLIDAY OPPORTUNITIES FOR MAKING A CHILD’S CHRISTMAS MERRIER AND TREATING OUR FURRY FRIENDS TO A NICE MEAL OR TWO (AND MAYBE A TOY!)
The Toys for Tots barrel is located in the front of Health Restoration. Let’s fill it up a few times! Last year the Drive provided toys and gifts to over 860 children in Mon County. What to buy? Toys, sweaters, sweatshirts (any sizes), games, books, watches, jewelry sets, makeup kits, fishing poles, sporting equipment make excellent gifts for children from infant through the teen years. Every child deserves to share in the joy and excitement that the holidays bring – they are not responsible for their station in life – we can make the holidays brighter for children we may never meet, but who will remember our kindness. Students can also earn community service hours for helping with this project.
We will also have a barrel for pets! The food, toys and pet supplies gathered here will be given to the Mon County Humane Society to distribute to needy families on the same day as the Toys for Tots event. Dogs and cats and children cannot help themselves, but we can help them. Please be generous when you’re out doing your holiday shopping.
BLOOD DRIVE
There will be a blood Drive on Thursday, December 6, 2007 from 7:00a. to 6:00p in the John Jones Conference Center. To make an appointment, log on to www.givelife.org or call 1-800-GIVE LIFE. Thank you for giving the gift of life.
Volunteers are also needed for the blood drive. See Volunteer opportunities for details.
IT IS OFFICIAL: WVU HAS WON THE PENNY WAR!!!
Two months ago, our committee set a goal to raise $5,000 for the MBRCC Comfort Fund. However, with the strong support of the university and community, we were able to raise close to $18,000!!!. PITT raised approximately $7,500 for their Hillman Cancer Center.
MAKING A WONDERFUL DIFFERENCE
Amy Sparks’ Sophomore clinical group, "Team Steam", created festive Thanksgiving cards for all the oncology patients on 9W on behalf of the School of Nursing. Such thoughtfulness touched the patients and wowed the staff. Thanks so much, Team Steam – you went above and beyond – kindness is never forgotten!

KEEP BRINGING YOUR USED PC CARTRIDGES TO HEALTH RESTORATION
We continue to raise funds for the Humane Society – The small pc cartridges we are donating are worth around $1 and the large cartridges bring in $4 each – This continues to be a worthwhile project, saving the animals and the landfill as well. The Humane Society truly appreciates your efforts! This is a year round project! We just turned in another 80 cartridges! Great job – keep them coming – unfortunately, the need never goes away!
