Message of the Week
December 12, 2007
FROM DEAN NARSAVAGE
Greetings, all!
Our holiday break is just beginning and I hope that you will enjoy a change of pace during this season! As the year comes to a close around this time of giving, I want to take a moment to thank all of you for your many contributions to our University and the communities in which you live. We want to offer a big THANK YOU to all of you who have organized or assisted with bringing “nursing” to West Virginia’s people – health fairs, projects, and many other contributions to improving quality of life have been accomplished this Fall by our students, staff and faculty. Too often, the focus is on our problems and ways that we might upset others rather than celebrating our accomplishments. In looking back over the year, however, I am humbled by the many stories I have heard about how so many of you have intervened to assist in many different ways when others have been in need. We are in a wonderful position to continue the good work that we all do, and to show West Virginians how much we care.
For the next few weeks, the campus will be quieter but still vibrant in planning for next semester and beyond. Our first class of Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) students are breathing a sigh of relief that they have made it through the semester and are well on their way to becoming the first group of WVU SON DNP graduates. We have been delighted to have had “December graduates” from the BSN, RN to BSN, MSN, and PhD programs this past weekend.
I want you to know how much I appreciate all of the good work that you do – both inside and outside the classroom and clinical areas. New opportunities this Spring when you return include an interdisciplinary course in International health. We are excited to be able to offer this chance to expand your horizons with interdisciplinary faculty who work globally in their fields of expertise.
Whether you're traveling or staying in the area, my husband Peter and I wish you a relaxing, safe and happy holiday season, and I look forward to seeing you again in January!
Dean Georgia Narsavage

KEEP BRINGING YOUR USED PC CARTRIDGES TO HEALTH RESTORATION
We continue to raise funds for the Humane Society – The small pc cartridges we are donating are worth around $1 and the large cartridges bring in $4 each – This continues to be a worthwhile project, saving the animals and the landfill as well. The Humane Society truly appreciates your efforts! This is a year round project! We just turned in another 80 cartridges! Great job – keep them coming – unfortunately, the need never goes away!
THE NEXT EDITION OF THE MESSAGE OF THE WEEK WILL BE JANUARY 9
