HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY HOLIDAY!

SPRING SCHEDULES:

All Students - check your schedule to verify you are registered for all your classes for Spring 2005.  If you find any discrepancy, contact Mrs. Vidovich at 293-1384 or lvidovich@hsc.wvu.edu.

SUMMER NURSING COURSES FOR UNDERGRADUATES:

Plans are now being made to schedule summer nursing courses.  Undergraduate students who would like to be considered for junior or senior level nursing courses should submit a written request by email to Dr. Shelton at eshelton@hsc.wvu.edu by January 14, 2005.  Even if your progression plan calls for summer course work or you have already discussed this possibility with faculty, you must submit a written request.  The only exception to this is students in the BS/BA to BSN program, whose curriculum plan already calls for summer classes.  Decision criteria include academic achievement as evidenced by overall GPA and the space available.

PROGRESSION PLAN REQUIRED:

Undergraduate students who do not attain a grade of C or better in Nursing courses or required pre- and co-requisite non-nursing courses must submit a formal progression plan for consideration by the Admission, Progression, and Graduation Committee before January 5, 2005.  Consult with your academic advisor for assistance in preparing your plan and to obtain the advisor’s statement to the committee regarding your plan.  Progression plans and advisor support statements may be submitted in writing or by email to Dr. Shelton in Student Services, eshelton@hsc.wvu.edu.

LIBRARY BOOK DROP:

The location for leaving books and journals outside the Health Sciences Library has been moved. This  book drop is now located at the right of the entrance to the library. Signs are posted indicating its new location.

MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS IN HEALTH SCIENCES NORTH:

Maintenance and repairs are being made on the 2nd floor hallway of Health Sciences North starting left of stairwell in front of HSC Library and ending at Room 2172.  This area will be temporarily disrupted to continue the Learning Center construction project.  A tunnel is in place for pedestrian foot traffic.  Those with carts, wheelchairs, etc. will have to take back hallway around the construction site.  During the disruption the ceiling will be removed and necessary repairs/installations made.  The area will be disrupted for a 3 week period beginning December 1 and ending the week of December 20, 2004.  If you have questions or concerns about the repairs in the area please contact Neil Wilson at 293-1752 or e-mail at nwilson@hsc.wvu.edu.

PARKING GARAGE SPACES AVAILABLE AT HOULY RATE:
Two sections of the parking garage, located behind the WVU Eye Institute, are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, on a first come, first served basis, to employees of WVUH, UHA and WVU Health Sciences, as well as to students, patients and visitors.  Rates are $4 for 0-9 hours; $8 for 9-17 hours; and $10 for 17-24 hours. It's important to note that each time an individual moves his/her car from the garage (i.e., for lunch or a meeting), he/she will be required to re-pay when re-entering the garage.  A security officer will man a parking booth at the entrance of the garage to collect payment (cash only) and to monitor the garage for safety. There will continue to be a section of the parking garage on Level 2 reserved for those accessing the Emergency Department. These individuals are not required to pay to park in the garage. There's also spaces reserved on Level 1 for individuals who are leasing a space in the garage on a monthly basis.  Questions? Call the Parking Office at 598-4029.
