DEAN MARTIN TO CONTINUE AS DEAN:
Vice-President for Health Sciences Dr. Robert D’Alessandri recently gave the School of Nursing community some good news when he announced Dr. E. Jane Martin will continue as Dean. “Without a doubt,” he said, “her decision not to retire is going to be in the best interests of the school and everyone who benefits from the care our excellent nursing graduates provide.” Dr. Martin reports she is pleased to continue in dean role and eagerly anticipates working with students, staff, and faculty to further advance School of Nursing achievements.

SQUELCH THE RUMOR!:
Rumor—(1) general talk not based on definite knowledge; mere gossip; hearsay (2) an unconfirmed report, story, or statement in general circulation. When some intelligent Sophomore students heard a rumor recently they asked faculty for the facts, now that’s smart thinking. The rumor was that School of Nursing accreditation was in jeopardy related to the skills lab in 3016. NOT TRUE, no basis in fact. The fact is the School of Nursing is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) until 2009. Construction of a new, multidisciplinary learning laboratory will start this year and we’re excited about that for many reasons but none of them are related to accreditation. You can help squelch this rumor and discourage others by asking for the facts.
