The diabetes education center at WVUH is having a diabetes health fair on 4/6/05 from 10 am to 3 pm in the John Jones Center.  Student volunteers are needed to do blood pressures and fingers sticks.  For more information or to sign up contact Judy Klingensmith at KlingensmithJ@rcbhsc.wvu.edu

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES:

Clinical Trials Research Unit (CTRU) has a job opening for a student medical assistant. Under the supervision of the RN Research Coordinators, the student will assist with blood collection, interviewing study patients, taking vital signs, etc.  The student will also assist with documenting study patient information, and clinical data gathering from patients’ charts.  This is a per diem position (10-20 hrs) and hours will be flexible depending on the student’s availability and CTRU needs.  Pay is $8.74 hr.  Although we prefer to have the student over the summer, this is not mandatory.  This is a wonderful opportunity for a nursing student to gain experience with a wide variety of patients and learn more about research. Please call Susan McCrone at 293-1400 or e-mail for more information.

A summer Externship program is available at WVUH.  BSN candidates must show evidence of successfully completing their junior year.  The Nurse Externs perform direct and indirect patient care in a selected area with the assistance and supervision of a staff registered nurse who functions as a mentor to promote high quality care.  Rate of pay will be $10/hour for a commitment beginning in May or June 2005.  TO APPLY: Forward a resume, WVUH application and two letters of recommendation via Fax to(304) 598-4264, or Mail to WVU Hospitals, Human Resources Dept. 8121, Morgantown, WV 26506
