TIPS:
The TIPS (Test Improvement and Peer Support) program is beginning this semester for undergraduate students. Weekly tutoring sessions/study groups will be held for NSG 241, NSG 322, NSG 334, NSG 351, NSG 356, and NSG 421. The sessions are open to all students enrolled in these courses, and you are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity. The following is a schedule of the days, times, and rooms where the sessions will be held:

FRESHMAN, SOPHOMORE, AND JUNIOR SCHOLARSHIP INFO:
Information on the 2006-2007 scholarship process and an application form was mailed to all freshmen, sophomore, and junior nursing students’ permanent address during the Winter Break. You must submit the completed application to the Office of Student Services and file your FAFSA by February 10, 2006, to be considered for a School of Nursing scholarship for academic year 2006-2007. Last year, several students did not meet the deadline for filing the FAFSA and could not be considered for scholarships, so make sure that you file the FAFSA early. Funds are limited and awarded on the basis of combined academic achievement and financial need.
TRAUMA SHEERS:
Joanne Watson is ordering trauma sheers for a large group of students. They are $2.85 plus whatever tax and shipping will cost. If interested, email Joanne Watson at jewatson@hsc.wvu.edu. The order will be placed on Friday, January 13.
SNA SWEATSHIRTS AND T-SHIRTS:
SNA is selling WVU School of Nursing hooded sweatshirts and long sleeve t-shirts. Sweatshirts are white with blue lettering and cost $35 for SNA members or $40 for non-SNA members. Long sleeve t-shirts are navy blue with yellow/gold lettering and cost $15 for SNA members or $20 for non-SNA members. Orders should be placed by the end of next week. To place an order, please write your name, size of shirt, and leave a check made out to SNA at the SNA Workspace.
WVU RHEP (RURAL HEALTH EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP) DAY:
All students, especially Juniors, are invited to the RHEP Fair on Tuesday, January 24, 11:45 - 5:00 pm; Pylons Lobby. Stop by and meet with representatives from the state RHEP consortiums. Learn about the many different opportunities available throughout the state for your clinical rural rotations. Snacks and "door prizes" are available.
SAVE THE DATE -- SNA FORMAL:
SNA Formal is Feb. 25th. Tickets will be on sale at the next SNA meeting and other dates will be announced. Students must be a member of SNA (one guest per student).
SAVE THE DATE – UNITY DAY:
Unity Day is Feb. 9th in Charleston. It is a great experience to see how your government affects the nursing profession and health of West Virginians.
ELECTRONIC THESIS AND DISSERTATION WORKSHOP:
The West Virginia University Electronic Thesis and Dissertation (ETD) Task Force, in conjunction with the Provost's Graduate Student Professional Development Workshop series is pleased to announce a campus wide ETD Seminar: Monday, February 20, 2006, 3:00 - 5:00 PM, NRCCE (Evansdale Campus), Room 101A. BSN SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES:
The Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Foundation will award a $2000 scholarship to a nursing student applicant residing in Ohio or West Virginia who is interested in and committed to oncology nursing. Applications are available at www.onsfoundation.org, along with scholarship criteria and requirements. Application deadline is February 1, 2006.
GRADUATE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY:
Nurses’ Educational Funds, Inc. has scholarships available for MSN and DSN students. To qualify for an award, applicants must be: a registered nurse; a member of a professional nursing association; enrolled full-time in a professionally NLNAC or CCNE accredited nursing masters degree program or enrolled full or part-time in a doctoral program in nursing or a nursing related field. There is a non-refundable processing fee of $20 for each application. Application deadline is March 1, 2006. Information and application forms are available at

BLOOD DRIVE:
There will be a blood drive on Wednesday, January 18 from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the John Jones Conference Center. To make an appointment log on to www.redcrosslife.org. COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES:
Help is needed in the Skills Lab for the N110 screening blood pressures from on Wednesday, Jan. 18th, 1-6pm.
WV Family Grief Center Dinner is on Jan 23rd 5-7pm at the Methodist Church on Burroughs Ave. Future dinners are Feb. 20th, Mar. 20th, & Apr. 17th.
