FIRST ANNUAL HEATHER MILLER MEMORIAL GOLF CLASSIC - AUGUST 8
Senior Nursing Student Heather Miller was tragically killed in an automobile accident
over Spring Break. Her family and friends are sponsoring this new golf classic at the
Highland Springs Golf Course in Wellsburg WV. The money raised from the golf classic
will be used to award college scholarships to local students in Heather's memory.
This is a great way to remember Heather and to help deserving students along the way.

BOOK DONATION TO COTOBATO
Kayleigh Burner, Class of 2008, coordinated a drive to collect older textbooks and
extra reference books from the School of Nursing to be sent to Cotobato, the Medical
Foundation College Library in the Philippines. The faculty and staff of the SON cleaned
out their bookcases and the end result was nearly 400 textbooks being donated!
Additionally, the Human Performance Lab, Department of Exercise Physiology, donated 5
large boxes of textbooks. Kayleigh was very grateful for the donations. We will
continue to support this wonderful program that puts our older books to a very good use.
Our graduates always make an important difference wherever they are!

American Lung Association Recruiting Children for Asthma Camp
The American Lung Association of West Virginia and United Hospital Center are
accepting applications for Camp Catch Your Breath. Designed for children with
asthma, the camp will be held July 27- August 1, 2008 at Jackson's Mill Conference
Center in Weston, WV. Camp Catch Your Breath is specifically for children between
the ages of 8 and 13 who have asthma. The camp combines traditional summer camp
activities like crafts and swimming with an exciting asthma education curriculum.
In addition, extra evening activities such as a no-fire campfire, Luau, Karaoke,
and a trip to the Lewis County Fair make camp a fun-filled experience for all
involved. Participating hospitals include Charleston Area Medical Center, Cabell
Huntington Hospital, Camden Clark Memorial Hospital, Jefferson Memorial Hospital,
and Ohio Valley Medical Center.

A GREAT IDEA FROM SNA IF YOU PLAN TO DO SOME TRAVELING THIS SUMMER!
Please collect the toiletry items (shampoos, soap, even the instant coffee) you don't
use from the hotels you stay in. You can bring these items back to school and place
them in the collection box in Academic Affairs (in front of Brandy's desk) either
during the summer or when you get back to school. SNA will donate these items to the
Bartlett House. Thanks so much. Michelle L. Ryan is the SNA President, 2008-2009.
SNA COLLECTING TOPS FROM MEDICATION VIALS FOR FUNDRAISER!
If you are working in a clinical setting this summer, please collect the plastic tops
off vials of medication. When you open a new vial of medication, save that round
plastic top. You can save them until school starts OR you can drop them off in
Academic Affairs (in front of Brandy's office). SNA is using these for a future
fundraiser. Thanks for everyone's help and support.

KEEP BRINGING YOUR USED PC CARTRIDGES TO HEALTH RESTORATION
We continue to raise funds for the Humane Society – The small pc cartridges we are
donating are worth around $1 and the large cartridges bring in $4 each – This continues
to be a worthwhile project, saving the animals and the landfill as well. The Humane
Society truly appreciates your efforts! This is a year round project! Unfortunately,
the need never goes away!
