NEW WVU ID NUMBERS IN BANNER/STAR:
Beginning Monday, July 12, WVU students, faculty and advisers have been assigned
a new WVU ID number in the BANNER/STAR Student Information System. This
nine-digit number replaces the old ID (Social Security number), providing a more
secure data environment and meeting new federal regulations. The
new WVU ID will be printed on communication that previously displayed
individuals’ Social Security numbers such as invoices, schedules and class
lists. During the transition period (July 12,
2004 through August 1, 2005), current faculty and students (those added to the
STAR system before July 11, 2004) will still be able to access the STAR Web
using their old ID numbers. User name and password to enter MIX or STAR Web
will remain the same. Students and
faculty can find their new WVU ID number by logging into STAR; the new ID number
will be displayed along with your name once you have selected an option within
STAR. Students are encouraged to use their new WVU ID number when contacting
administrative departments (Admissions and Records, Financial Aid, Housing,
Student Accounts, etc.). Additional information can be found on the MIX
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Web page. Anyone experiencing difficulty
logging into MIX or STAR Web should contact the Help Desk at 304-293-4444 ext.

WVU LIBRARIES ONLINE CATALOG UPGRADE PLANNED JULY 15-16:
The WVU Libraries will be migrating the online catalog system to new servers on July 15 and 16. There may be times during the process when the MountainLynx online catalog is temporarily not available, or when circulation records are temporarily not retrievable. Library reference desks and circulation desks are prepared to help people if the system is not available. When completed, this hardware upgrade will improve the performance of the Mountainlynx online catalog and other library systems. Library users should not notice major service interruptions during this system upgrade. Users will still be able to search the Internet, and to check out books. Anyone who needs help or has questions about the upgrade can contact the Reference Desk or the Access Services Desk at the Downtown Campus Library.
MOVING THE BOOKS:
The Health Sciences Library (HSL) is preparing for the construction of the new Health Sciences Library and Center for Learning. Scanned versions of the articles from these journals will be made available upon request from the Web page at http://www.libraries.wvu.edu/systems/callslip. For more information on the library construction project, call 293-6810 or visit the construction Web site at http://www.hsc.wvu.edu/library/construction.htm.
