Message of the Week
July 6, 2005

The Message of the Week is slowing down for the summer. A new Message will appear every two weeks instead of every week.

CONGRATULATIONS:
To the following students who were on the Dean’s List at the end of the Spring semester, with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on 12 or more gradable credits: Melissa Kinley, Katherine Komondor, Natalie Roman. These students were inadvertently left off the list in the last Message of the Week.

FALL SCHEDULES:
Please check your schedule in STAR and make sure that you are registered for all of the courses you need for Fall 2005. If there is an error in your schedule, or you are missing nursing courses for which you think you should be registered, please contact Dr. Shelton at eshelton@hsc.wvu.edu. Seniors, remember that you need to take NSG 476, Nursing Research, in either the Fall or Spring semester. If you still need to register for this course for Fall 2005, you should do so on STAR.

CHANGE IN STUDENT UNIFORMS:
In response to numerous requests regarding the student uniform, students now have the option of wearing navy blue pants or white pants. The uniform top will remain the same. A full description of the Professional Appearance Policy is in the Undergraduate Student Handbook, which is in the process of being updated to reflect the change in student uniforms. The updated Handbook will be available on the School of Nursing website at www.hsc.wvu.edu/son in the near future.

IMMUNIZATIONS:
Just a reminder that all students in clinical courses must submit evidence of updated immunizations and CPR certification before beginning clinical rotations in Fall 2005. PPD must be updated annually, and CPR certification must be updated every 1-2 years. If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Student Services.
