Message of the Week
March 01, 2006
CONGRATULATIONS:
To Melanie Davis, sophomore nursing student, who was elected to the Board of Governors.
STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN MAY GRADUATION CEREMONY:
If you are planning to participate in the May graduation ceremony, you should contact the Bookstore and let them know the size you will need for your cap and gown. This year, the gowns will be navy blue with the WVU seal rather than the traditional black gowns of the past. Students graduating in May and August are eligible to participate in the School of Nursing graduation ceremony on May 13.
BSN STUDENTS NEEDED!!!!!:
Students are needed to complete the Student Satisfaction Inventory, a questionnaire that indicates overall satisfaction with the University. Each college and school within the University is participating, and we need to have 30 nursing students (sophomores through seniors) complete the questionnaire. On Monday, March 5, at 12 pm in Room 8601, you can complete the questionnaire and get pizza and 2 community service hours for your efforts. If you cannot come at that time, you can come to Student Services anytime between 8 am and 4:30 pm from March 1 through March 7 to complete the questionnaire and receive 2 community service hours.
TIPS ROOM CHANGE:
NSG 421 TIPS session for March 2 will meet in Room 8603.
COLLECTING SCRUBS AND DRESS CLOTHING:
Once again, Christian Help has asked the School to participate in a clothing drive to collect nursing scrubs and shoes and dress clothing for women just entering the work force. Donations can be dropped off in the box in the front of Health Restoration through the end of March.
ANNUAL WVUH CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL KID FAIR:
Saturday, April 1 - Morgantown Mall (Westover) 10a - 5p - Fun way to earn community service hours - The School of Nursing booth will provide blood pressure screenings for the kids as well as offer safety and nutrition tips along with a tic tac toe board game. The kids get to see nurses in a fun setting (not just when they are ill or getting shots). We also help staff other booths so there are lots of opportunity for community service hours. To volunteer, please e-mail Betty Jurick, bjurick@hsc.wvu.edu. Please plan on volunteering for at least a 3-hour shift. You are welcome to work the entire fair is you would like.
NCLEX REVIEW:
A free NCLEX Workshop will be hosted by WVU Hospitals on Saturday, March 4, from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. For more information and to pre-register, contact Annette Belcher in WVUH Human Resources, at belchera@rcbhsc.wvu.edu.
