PRT TO CLOSE FOR THE SUMMER!
West Virginia University's Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) will be closed May 11-Aug 14 for maintenance. During the hiatus, WVU will offer free shuttle service - providing pickup and dropoff at current PRT stops - to accommodate students and others affected by the temporary closure. The PRT will not be running for commencement weekend. Shuttle service will begin May 18, the first day of the summer term. Days and hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The shuttle will run its route every 30 minutes. A map of the shuttle route is posted online at http://transportation.wvu.edu/.

CULTURE AND HEALTH SEMINAR OFFERED FALL 2009
The exciting, interdisciplinary, and interactive seminar on culture and health will be taught during the Fall 2009 semester. This elective graduate course is open to all HSC graduate students and to senior SON undergraduate students. For more information and for permission to register for the course, please, contact Dr. Chertok at ichertok@hsc.wvu.edu

RESEARCH ASSISTANT NEEDED
Dr. Ilana Chertok is looking for a nursing student to work as a research assistant to do some laboratory work this summer for 3 days in the middle of June for pay. If interested, please contact Dr. Chertok at ichertok@hsc.wvu.edu

RUBY EMPLOYEE HEALTH LOOKING FOR NURSING STUDENT VOLUNTEERS
Students are needed to do a pre-pilot data collection for approx. one week, and then a post-pilot collection period 2 weeks later. Students would be roaming the 7 East Nursing Unit, observing types of patient lifts that are occurring by the nursing staff and keeping record similar to a tally sheet. We would also need commitment for weekend hours as well. This is a great opportunity for community service hours and to be involved in a research study. If you're interested and for more information, please contact Kathleen Hamperian RN,BSN,CCM, Employee Health Department hamperiank@wvuh.com or call 304-598-4000 ext. 73068.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES, SCHOLARSHIP, COMMUNITY SERVICE AND VOLUNTEER HOURS!
This section is not an endorsement by WVU or the School of Nursing for any of these opportunities or their sponsors/requestors. Students are advised to carefully explore any opportunity prior to engaging in any volunteer, community service, or employment activity.

KEEP BRINGING YOUR USED PC CARTRIDGES TO HEALTH RESTORATION
We continue to raise funds for the Humane Society – The small pc cartridges we are donating are worth around $1 and the large cartridges bring in $4 each – This continues to be a worthwhile project, saving the animals and the landfill as well. The Humane Society truly appreciates your efforts! This is a year round project! Unfortunately, the need never goes away!
