A SPECIAL FEATURE FOR OUR CLASS OF 2007 FOR THE SUMMER MESSAGE
We want to know what you’re doing and where you’re going. Email bjurick@hsc.wvu.edu and let us know what’s happening this summer – Going on a great graduation trip? Your first BSN job? How was that NCLEX? Getting engaged? Getting married? Let us know and we’ll let your classmates know! We have enjoyed having you here and frankly, we’re just not ready to let you go! So let’s spend the summer staying in touch!
THE CLASS OF 2007 SUMMER NOTES!
Lauren Plesic will be moving to Pittsburgh, PA in mid-June to start a job at Allegheny General Hospital on a post-op floor. She will be caring for post-op patients including kidney and liver transplants and GI operations. She had an externship on this floor last summer and feels very comfortable with going back to AGH. Congratulations, Lauren! Please stay in touch and let us know how everything is working out for you!
CONGRATULATIONS TO EMILY BARNES, AMY SPARKS AND JENNIFER VESHNESKY for completing their very first half-marathon in Cleveland on May 20! They walked 13.3 miles in 3 hours and 4 minutes. Wow!

THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY RELAY FOR LIFE IS COMING UP! June 15-16, COLISEUM
WVU SNA will have a tent there making tie-dye. Volunteers are needed to walk and also to help fundraise. This is a terrific event to participate in. WVUH, HSC, UHA and the Cancer Center will all be participating again this year. Last year this Health Care at WVU team raised more than $19,000! Way to go!
What all can we do to help out this year? Here are a few ideas –
1) fundraising prior to the event,
2) tshirt tie-dying during the event,
3) item donations that we can sell at the event,
4) help with sales,
5) help with food prep/sales,
6) walking the track,
7) camping out at the track,
8) emotional support for those that have been affected by cancer,
9) hanging out with fellow Nursing faculty/staff/students,and
10) any idea that you have not listed here.
Faculty, staff and students wishing to participate can visit the website or contact Rachel Bell at rbell@mix.wvu.edu. Donations can also be made right on line. See you there!
TIPS tutors are needed for the Fall semester.
Tutors are paid $9 per hour or have the option of earning community service hours for tutoring. To be considered, students must have earned at least a B in the course they are interested in tutoring. If interested, contact Dr. Shelton at eshelton@hsc.wvu.edu.
HEALTH SCIENCES LIBRARY – TRIAL PERIOD OF EXTENDED HOURS
The Health Sciences Library is going to have a trial period of extended weekend hours through Friday, June 8, 2007. The new hours will be:
Friday 8 AM - 11 PM
Saturday 10 AM - 11 PM
Sunday 10 AM - 11 PM
In addition, the library is planning to install two additional printers, one near the first floor study rooms, and one at the entrance to the learning center balcony on 2nd floor.
The Library staff will be monitoring use of the library and study rooms during the extra hours and will use this usage data to make a decision as to whether or not to extend library hours starting with fall semester.

KEEP BRINGING YOUR USED PC CARTRIDGES TO HEALTH RESTORATION
We continue to raise funds for the Humane Society - $4 for every used cartridge – save the dogs and cats and the landfill as well! The animals need you! This is a year round project! We have donated over $2,000 with our used cartridges. Thanks so much contributing to this ongoing project. Save your cartridges over the summer for our animals.
