 IT’S MOUNTAINEER WEEK!
LET’S GO, MOUNTAINEERS!

STUDENTS CAN HELP IN THE FIGHT AGAINST THE FLU THIS YEAR!
Students are needed to assist in the preparation of the 2,500 doses of flu vaccine that will be given at the HSC Flu Clinic on November 9th and 13th.  The preparation consists of drawing up individual doses of the vaccine from multi-dose vials 12-16 hours prior to the actual administration.  Times for preparation will be on Wednesday November 8th in the evening and on November 12th in the evening.  This is a great practice opportunity for all levels.

In addition, students who are interested in helping to administer the vaccine to patients in the clinic, will also be utilized as long as there is a instructor present. The actual clinic hours fall within a lot of class times, but if your schedule allows and you are interested, please let us know.  See clinic hours below.

25TH ANNUAL TOY DRIVE BEGINS NOVEMBER 13
The decorated toy barrel will be located in the front of Health Restoration. The drive is sponsored by Christian Help, a non-denominational, non-profit organization committed to serving the needs of the poor in this area.  All children deserve to share in the joy and excitement that the holidays bring.  Please participate by donating a toy or money to the drive.  Maybe when you go home for Thanksgiving, you might have time to shop for a gift.  Teenagers are the most underserved group – sweaters, nice sweatshirts, games, books, wallets, watches, make-up kits, cologne sets – think of an item you would like and share that with a child who might not otherwise get something nice.   There is also a great opportunity to get volunteer/community service hours with this project.  Please email bjurick@hsc.wvu.edu for information on how you can get involved in this worthwhile project.

INTERESTING SPEAKER FOR THE RED CROSS CLUB
April Cloussen, a nurse who volunteers with Disaster/Health Services, will speak at the Red Cross Club meeting on Monday, November 13 at 7pm in the Blue Stone Room of the Mountainlair. April volunteered during 9/11 and has worked at many other disasters. She also teaches Disaster and Health Service Classes for the Red Cross.
