CONGRATULATIONS:
To Cynthia Bunner, BSN 2000, MSN 2002, and Scott Zemerick, who were married on July 10, 2004, at First Presbyterian Church in Morgantown. Cynthia is a family nurse practitioner at WVU Hospitals and an instructor at West Virginia Junior College in Bridgeport.
To Jennifer Titus, BSN 2002,
and Andrew Cogar, who were married June 5, 2004, at Trinity Episcopal Church in
Morgantown. Jennifer is a registered nurse in the Department of Cardiovascular
Services at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg.
NEW ELECTIVE
COURSE:
NSG 493L, Spirituality and Health, will be offered as a 3
credit elective in the Spring 2005 semester. The course will be taught online
by Sister Barbara Kupchak. For more information, contact

FOOTBALL GAME DAY PARKING:
The HSC will remain open all
day on game day, October 21. Classes are not canceled. Determination of
classes beyond 5 pm that day is at the discretion of the instructor. The HSC
library will remain open that evening. Parking Lots 80, 81, and 84 will remain
open for paid permit employee parking until 5:00 pm on game day.
PDA USERS GROUP
TO MEET OCT. 21:
Tom McIntire will present "Pharmacy Utilization of PDAs WVU and Beyond" at the Thursday, Oct. 21, meeting of the PDA Users Discussion Group Meeting. All students, staff and faculty are welcome to attend. The meeting will be held from noon to 12:50 p.m. in Room 2116,
Health
Sciences Center.

ARMY ROTC SCHOLARSHIPS:
Army ROTC is offering 1, 2,
3, and 4 year scholarships for nursing students to include up to $11,000 in
monthly stipends, $12,500 in nurse bonuses along with the scholarships that
cover full tuition and fees. Contact MAJ Jeff Urso at 293-2911 ext. 135 for

GRADUATE
SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES:
The Institute for Credential Innovation (formerly IREC) of
the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) announces the Margretta Madden
Styles Credentialing Scholars Grant that provides up to $5,000 to a doctoral
student conducting dissertation research or an evidenced-based project that
focuses on credentialing for nurses. The application is available at

Nurses Education Funds, Inc. has scholarships available for students enrolled in
masters degree and doctoral programs in nursing. The number of awards and
amount of each depend upon available funds. Application deadline is March 1,

UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP
OPPORTUNITY:
Applications
are being accepted for the Foundation of the National Student Nurses’
Association (FNSNA) 2005-2006 scholarships. Scholarships range from $1,000 to
$2,500, and may be applied towards tuition, books, and academic fees. Selection
is based on academic achievement, financial need, and involvement in student
nursing organizations and community health activities. The deadline for the
FNSNA to receive a completed application is January 20, 2005. The application
is available for download on the NSNA website at

HSC BLOOD DRIVE
RESCHEDULED:
The
blood drive originally scheduled for October 21 has been rescheduled for
Wednesday, Oct. 20, from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. because of the football game. The drive
will be held in the Student Lounge area in front of the Post Office on the

COMMUNITY SERVICE
OPPORTUNITIES:
Work with local at risk youths doing anger management and violence prevention using sport as the mechanism of instruction. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! Available times: 3:30-4:45 Tues and /or Thurs.
