PARKING ALERT FOR 10/22/03:
Wednesday, Oct. 22nd WVU plays Virginia Tech here. Classes WILL be held as usual but students will not be able to leave cars in any Ruby Hospital parking lots or in the paid “Pit” parking lot across from Applebees after 5:00 pm.
BLOOD DRIVES AT HEALTH SCIENCES:
Save a life and earn two hours of community service for each blood donation. Drives are held at the John E. Jones Conference center: Sept. 17; Oct. 16; Nov. 19; Jan. 21; Feb. 19; Mar. 24.
FIRESIDE CHAT 4:00 pm 9/17/03:
Dennis Wainstock will speak on “The Rise of the Women’s Liberation Movement: 1967 to 1970” in Betty Boyd lounge of E. Moore Hall. Refreshments will be served.
SNA MEETING SCHEDULE:
The Student Nurses Association meetings will be held on Sept. 22, Oct 27, and Nov. 17 from 4:00-5:00 pm in room 2118 (Path Amp) Health Sciences Center North.
HELP SNA-SELL AND BUY CANDLES, TART BURNERS, LAMP SHADES, WICK SCISSORS:
Help SNA sell these items and buy some for your gift giving. Must order before October 1. Order forms available from SNA workspace in Health Restoration; see secretary Betty Jurick if you have questions.
JOIN SNA NOW:
It’s not too late to join WVUSNA. Local dues are $10.00. Membership forms are available from Student Services, faculty Gail VanVoorhis in the Skills lab, or in SNA workspace in Health Restoration. Submit cash or check made payable to WVUSNA with membership form to Brandy in Student Services. Applications for national membership are available from Student Services or you can join online at www.nsna.org and click on member services. Dues of $32 (new member) or $42 (renewal) or $74 for two years cover both national and state membership. Attendance at the national convention requires national membership. Eligibility for some WVNA scholarship funds requires state/national membership.
ALPINE LAKE PROPERTY NEAR GOLF COURSE MIGHT BE YOURS:
Seniors Michelle Byerley and Jill Looney have raffle tickets, $10.00 each, the prize is land at Alpine Lake. The raffle proceeds will be used to build a ramp for disabled children at East Preston Elementary School. Place your ticket order with Jill at jlooney1@mix.wvu.edu
SOPHOMORE INDUCTION 10/10/03:
Save the date of Friday, October 10 at 7:00 pm for the Sophomore Induction ceremony to be held in the Health Sciences Auditorium. Details later.
ALUMNI WEEKEND 10/31-11/1/03:
Alumni weekend registration brochures are being placed in faculty mailboxes. Please put Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 on your calendar and plan to be with alumni on those dates.
SNA CAREER FAIR 12/1/03:
Health care facilities from West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, Kentucky, North Carolina and more will be offering information about externships and RN positions at the career fair Monday, December 1st from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm in the John Jones Conference Center. DECEMBER GRADUATION CONVOCATION 12/7/03:
A convocation ceremony will be held in the HSC cafeteria for all nursing December grads. The University graduation ceremony will follow our event. Details later.
