Fall begins September 23, 12:03am, EST
Welcome to Autumn!
With the beginning of fall and football season comes another great WVU tradition – The 2007 United Way Campaign for Monongalia and Preston Counties kicked off today!

Many of us are blessed and may never need to turn to a social services agency for assistance. But for the people of Mon and Preston Counties, the 26 agencies of the United Way stand ready to help those who find themselves in unfortunate circumstances. What did these United Way agencies do in 2005 – 2006?
74,000 medicine prescriptions were filled for those with no health insurance!
114 people received free dental services!
680 men, women AND children found shelter at the Bartlett House!
33,698 hot and nutritious meals were served!
175 children removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect were provided with advocacy services!
1,945 people received emergency financial assistance for housing, utility and transportation needs!
5,325 people in need of blood or blood products were helped!
2,562 rides were given to senior citizens needing transportation to medical appointments, the grocery store and other important destinations!
398 women received nice career clothing and assistance through Christian Help’s Career Clothing Closet to help them get back on their feet or get ahead in life!
1269 boys and girls participated in Boy Scouts and Girl Scout with assistance from United Way!
These are just a few of the thousands and thousands of needs met here in Mon and Preston County every year.
There are many, many reasons to support the United Way –
Contribute because you are blessed and don’t have need of these social services
Contribute because you know people who have benefited from the United Way
Contribute because the United Way can do so much more with your funds than you could do on your own.
Contribute because you care
Contribute because – That’s What We Do at WVU!

HSC PARKING REMINDER FOR FOOTBALL GAME DAYS!
In a nutshell, there is no parking at HSC for the game unless you are working and have been issued a special permit to be on “top of the hill”. The parking at HSC is used to meet the needs of employees from HSC and Ruby who have to work on game days and for visitors to the patients. Additionally, if you are working on a game day, you must display your identification badge to go from building to building.

| The WVU Red Cross Club is a fun and easy way to volunteer around campus. There is no set time commitment and students can donate as much of their time as they would like. The club takes students to the Children's Hospital at Ruby Memorial every 2 weeks as one of its volunteer activities. There, club members can make crafts with the children or read to them. The club also plans a fun activity every month, such as bowling, to allow the members to get to know each other. For more information about the WVU Red Cross Club, please contact the club secretary Nicole Fernandes at nfernan1@mix.wvu.edu |
