GREATER MORGANTOWN HEART ASSOCIATION WALK! STUDENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF are teaming up to raise funds for the American Heart Association. Let’s get together Saturday, October 6 at the Hazel Ruby McQuain Riverfront Park!
The School of Nursing is forming a team of donors, walkers and volunteers to raise funds to help protect people from the ravages of heart disease and stroke, the number 1 and 3 killers of Americans. This is going to be a fun activity – organizers will be checking blood pressures that day, so volunteers will be needed there. Our goal is to raise a minimum of $1000 (1 walker can ask 20 people to donate $5 each – that’s $100 per walker – 10 walkers and we are there).
Pets are welcome and many of us are bringing our dogs to help keep pace. Please contact Roger Carpenter, the SON Walk Coordinator, rcarpenter@hsc.wvu.edu, 293-1401 to sign up, donate or volunteer or to walk.
We’re also ordering red School of Nursing shirts to wear – if you would like one, please get $6 to Roger or Betty Jurick in Health Restoration by Friday, Sept. 21. (please add $2 for sizes XXL through XXXXL). We can make a real statement about our commitment to a heart healthy West Virginia! Come walk with us! See our bulletin board on the 6th floor!
WE HAVE OUR VERY OWN MOUNTAINEER IDOL CONTESTANT!
Junior Ann McBurney is on her way! In conjunction with the 60th annual Mountaineer Week, the Mountainlair is sponsoring the West Virginia University version of American Idol. Ann aced the first round and moves on to the next step in the competition, which will be Friday, September 21st, 8:30pm in the Mountainlair Ballrooms.
The genre will be 80s music! So, please stop by and support Ann in her quest to be the next Mountaineer Idol! Good luck, Ann!
