Clinical Faculty Position in Cardiology
Department of Clinical Pharmacy West Virginia University
Applications are invited from qualified individuals with training and expertise in the practice of cardiology for the position of assistant or associate professor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy. The position is a fulltime, tenure-track position with a 12-month appointment. Responsibilities: The faculty member will develop a clinical practice that provides direct patient care within a multidisciplinary team in the West Virginia University Hospitals system. Teaching in the cardiology component of the didactic doctor of pharmacy curriculum and precepting students in the advanced experiential education program are also important responsibilities. The faculty member is expected to develop a program of research and scholarly activity that results in extramural funding and peer-reviewed publications. Support of School initiatives and activities is expected, including representing the Department on School and University committees. The successful candidate will possess a high level of clinical practice skills, enthusiasm for didactic and clinical teaching, and the interpersonal skills needed for interacting effectively with students, faculty, health professionals, and patients. Credentials: Applicants must possess the PharmD degree and have completed a pharmacy practice residency and specialized cardiology residency (or fellowship) or have equivalent training or experience. Board certification or eligibility for board certification is desirable. Pharmacy licensure in West Virginia will be required. West Virginia University is a land grant Carnegie-designated Doctoral Research/Extensive institution, with approximately 25,000 undergraduate and 5,500 graduate/professional students. The WVU Health Sciences Center includes the Schools of Pharmacy, Medicine, Dentistry, and Nursing. The PharmD program was recently designated by the WVU Board of Governors as a Program of Excellence. Morgantown has 55,000 residents and is rated as one of the best small towns in the U.S., with affordable housing, excellent schools, a picturesque countryside, and access to a variety of four-season activities.
