RESEARCH TRAINING

A. Visiting Scientists who have worked in my laboratory

1. Roland Heintz, Ph.D.(senior scientist) was sent by and supported by Hoffmann-La Roche-Basle, Switzerland, 8/82 to 4/83.

2. James E. Axelson, Ph.D. then Associate Professor now

Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of British Columbia (UBC)and President AK Analytical Services Dr. Axelson spent his sabbatical leave working in my laboratory. He was supported by UBC and a grant from the Canadian Heart Foundation; 1/80 to 12/80.

3. Klaus Stoeckel, Ph.D. was sent by and supported by Hoffmann-La Roche-Basle, Switzerland. Initially he intended to work with Dr. Milo Gibaldi, but because of Dr. Gibaldi's planned departure to accept the deanship at the University of Washington, Dr. Stoeckel spent 1/78 to 3/79 working in my laboratory. Dr. Stoeckel is now managing director of ClinPharm Support( Basel, Switzerland).

4. Patrick du Souich, M.D., Ph.D. moved from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio to Buffalo (supported as a Merck International Fellow in Clinical Pharmacology) when I moved. He worked in my laboratory but under the supervision of Dr. Gibaldi (until 5/78). After Dr. Gibaldi's departure to become Dean of School of Pharmacy at the University of Washington, Patrick spent 4 more months working in my laboratory. Dr. du Souich is now Professor and Chairman of Pharmacology at the University of Montreal. He worked in my lab from 7/77 to 10/78.

5. Allan J. McLean, M.D., Ph.D. also moved from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio to Buffalo (supported as a National Health/Medical Research Council fellow in Clinical Pharmacology by the government of Australia) when I moved. He also worked in my laboratory but under the supervision of Dr. Gibaldi until 5/78. Dr. McLean is now Professor, Department of Geriatric Medicine, Woden Valley Hospital/University of Sydney. He worked in my lab from 7/77 to 6/78.

B. Post-doctoral Fellows

1. John Pieper, Pharm.D., worked as a post-doctoral fellow in my laboratory from 7/79 until 6/80. He left this fellowship position to accept an appointment as an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the University of Florida. He is now Chairman, Department of Clinical Pharmacy, University of North Carolina.

2. David J. Edwards, Pharm.D., worked as a post-doctoral fellow in my laboratory from 7/81 until 6/83. He left this fellowship position to accept an appointment as an Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Wayne State University. He is now a Professor at the same institution.

3. Craig K. Svensson, Pharm.D., Ph.D., worked as a post-doctoral fellow in my laboratory from 7/84 until 10/85. He left this fellowship position to accept an appointment as an Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Wayne State University where he is now a Professor and Vice-Chairman.

4. James Baxter, Pharm.D. worked as a post-doctoral fellow in my laboratory from 7/84 until 9/85. He then decided to continue his education and completed his Ph.D. working in my laboratory (supported by an American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education Fellowship). He is currently a senior research scientist at the

Central Research Laboratory, Pfizer Inc.

5. Allan K.L. Wong, Ph.D. worked as a post-doctoral fellow in my laboratory from 2/86 unitl 9/87. He then joined Novartis in Summit, New Jersey.

6. Cornelia Weber, Ph.D. worked as a post-doctoral fellow in my laboratory from 2/88 until 12/88. She was supported by F. Hoffmann-La Roche Basle and returned to work in the pharmacokinetics group at Roche Basle 12/12/88, where she has remained.

C. Graduate Students

1. Patrick McNamara, Ph.D. received his doctoral degree for work done in the laboratory of Dr. Milo Gibaldi form 9/75 to 5/78 and that completed between 5/78 to 10/79 in my laboratory. He left my laboratory to be a visiting scientist at Hoffmann-LaRoche-Basle, Switzerland and is now a Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutics, University of Kentucky.

2. Alfred Elvin, Ph.D. received has doctoral degree in October of 1981 for work done in my laboratory. He left my lab to become an Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutics at the University of Illinois Health Sciences Center at Chicago. He is presently Director, of Pharmacokinetics for Zenith- Goldline Division of IVAX Corporation.

3. Robert Lanc, M.S. received his Master's Degree for work done in my laboratory (1/82 to 3/86). He is now working in the Clinical Pharmacokinetics Laboratory at Millard Fillmore Hospital, Buffalo, NY.

4. Craig K. Svensson, Pharm.D., Ph.D. did both his graduate work and post-doctoral fellowship in my laboratory. He is described in post-doctoral fellows section.

5. Marlene Woodruff Modi, Ph.D. received her doctoral degree in November of 1987 for work done in my laboratory. She is now a Senior Research Scientist at Hoffmann-La Roche, Nutley, NJ.

6. Janice Barnett, Ph.D. received her doctoral degree in March of 1989 for work done in my laboratory (supported by an American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education Fellowship during her graduate studies). She is now a Manager at Ortho Bioscience .

7. Hsiao-Hui Chow, Ph.D. received her doctoral degree in May of 1989 for work done in my laboratory. She is now an Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Arizona.

8. James Baxter, Pharm.D., Ph.D. received his Ph.D. degree in November 1989 for work done in my laboratory. He is presently a senior research scientist at the Central Research Laboratory, Pfizer Inc.

9. Shun-Wen Chang, Ph.D. received her doctoral degree in December of 1991 for work done in my laboratory (degree granted by SUNY/Buffalo for work done in my laboratories at SUNY/Buffalo and WVU). She is currently a senior research scientist at Novartis.

10. K. Gary Barnette, Ph.D. received his doctoral in May 1995 for work done in my laboratory. He is currently the Director of Regulatory Affairs for Solvay Pharmaceuticals(US).

11. Qinying Zhao received her Ph.D.done in my laboratory in February 1996. She is currently a Manager in the Clinical Pharmacokinetics Section of Janssen Pharmaceuticals (US).

12. Ping Li received her M.S. for work done in my laboratory in June 1996. She is currently a research scientist at Millenium Pharmaceuticals.

13. Carol Cronenberger received her Ph.D. for work done in my laboratory in July 1997. She is currently a senior scientist with Proctor and Gamble.
