Instructions for Authors
Entropy (ISSN 1099-4300)
is a scientific journal dedicated to the empirical and theoretical study of
entropy from a variety of perspectives: physics, mathematics, biology, economy,
etc. Interdisciplinary works are also welcome. All submitted manuscripts should
contain original research not previously published and not under consideration
for publication elsewhere. Entropy is aimed to
maintain an efficient editorial procedure as well as a rigorous peer-review
system. This open access journal is funded by publication charges paid by authors
and charge waiver program. This allows us to provide unlimited free access
to the online edition for readers. Authors can distribute an unlimited number of
e-reprints via e-mail free of charge. Accepted papers will be published
immediately. Authors are required to prepare and submit manuscripts according
the following instructions.
Technical Requirement
- Please formulate your arguments in clear language and standard
mathematics. Review published articles as examples.
Submission of Manuscripts
- Manuscripts should be classified according one of the following
categories: editorial, short note, full paper, review, letter to the
Editor. The default is full paper.
- Manuscripts should be written in english, and submitted by e-mail with a
covering e-mail, to Dr. Michel Petitjean (E-mail: entropy@mdpi.org) or one of the Associate Editors, with a
copy to entropy@mdpi.org.
- Source files: MS Word (all versions) and Tex/LaTeX format (preferred) are
acceptable sources. For MS Word files, please do not insert any graphics
(schemes, figures, etc.) into a movable frame which can superimpose the text
and make the layout very difficult.
Authors are strongly encouraged to work
on unix/linux systems.
- Each manuscript must be converted into a single PDF file
before submission. Tools for generating pdf are available on the web,
including from MS Word.
- Authors may prepare PDF file of their final version of accepted papers by
inserting correct "Receive / Accepted / Published" dates and starting page
number from the webmaster. A collection of free tools for authors is
available to prepare pdf files from all kinds of formats.
- Copyright of published papers. We will typically insert the following note
at the end of the paper: © 200... by MDPI (http://www.mdpi.org). Reproduction
is permitted for noncommercial purposes. For alternate arrangements concerning
copyright please contact the Editor-in-Chief.
Manuscript

- Manuscripts should be prepared with a word processor. The printing area is
17.5cmX24.7cm. For A4 paper, have margins of 1.5 cm on top, 3.5cm at the
bottom and 1.75 cm on both left and right sides of the paper. For US
letter-sized paper, have margins of 1.5 cm on top, 1.74 cm at the bottom and
2.05 cm on both left and right sides.
- Preparation of the final version for manuscripts in TeX or Latex: authors
should take care of English correction, layout, and conversion to pdf format.
To convert TeX to DVI and
DVI to PS, try EMTEX which can be used under DOS or MS Windows. You can also
try MiKTeX. To convert PS to
PDF try Ghostscript, or ps2pdf
(linux users), or Adobe's service.
- The paper style of Entropy should be followed. You may download a
sample paper and a template file in the following formats: HTML, or Microsoft Word RTF,
or Microsoft Word

Chemical Information and Computer Sciences is also acceptable.
- The category (editorial, short note, full paper, review, letter to the
Editor) should be given on the line above the title. The default is full
paper.
- Authors' full address, homepage address, phone and fax numbers and e-mail

- The Abstract should be clear and detailed.
- A list of three to six keywords must be given, and placed after the
Abstract.
- Authors are encouraged to provide primary and secondary MSC 2000 codes
from the AMS Mathematics Subject
Classification and/or primary and secondary PACS codes from the AIP Physics and Astronomy Classification
Scheme
- Authors are encouraged to prepare figures and schemes in color.
Full color graphics will be published free of charge. Conference slides, video
sequences, software, etc., can be included and published as supplementary
material.
- Tables should be inserted into the main text, and numbers and
