Dr. Jerzy Leszczynski, founding editor of IJMS recently resigned in January 2004 from his position of editor in chief. Jerzy is warmly thanked by all the editorial board and by everybody at MDPI for his energy and his dedication. A new editor in chief, Dr. Francis Muguet, is now at the helm of IJMS. Francis, who is an indefatigable activist in favor of Open Access, is the chairman of the Civil Society Working group on Scientific Information and the co-chair of the Working group on Patents & Copyrights at the World Summit On the Information Society (WSIS).

A redesign of the IJMS site is currently in progress. We apologize for the mixture of old and new design.
