In 2003, MDPI took the opportunity of the
World Summit On the Information Society (WSIS)
to take an active role in promoting Open Access on the world stage.
Dr. Francis Muguet, MDPI board member,
is the chairman of the Civil Society Working Group on
Scientific Information (SI) and the
co-chairman of the Working Group on Patents & Copyrights(PCT).
Dr. Shu-Kun Lin, MDPI president,
is a member of the steering committee.
Among the
eight Nobel Prize winners on the editorial boards of MDPI journals,
three accepted to be part of the advisory board.
Recommendations in favor of Open Access have been recently adopted by the WSIS in
December 2003.
