Our Core Values

In the fulfillment of the mission, the Department of Pharmaceutical Systems and Policy is guided by certain core values. These core values are:

Excellence in educational program design and delivery

  • A primary goal is to achieve excellence in the design and delivery of all educational offerings.
  • Offerings in the professional program will reflect the pharmaceutical care needs and opportunities of the pharmacy profession and the strengths of our department.

Priority focus on graduate students as clients and colleagues

  • Research and teaching in the graduate program can be achieved only through a partner relationship and supportive involvement with faculty.
  • Graduate training will incorporate student interests to address the health care and policy needs of an evolving pharmaceutical and health care system.
  • Our academic, industry, and professional community will recognize our graduate students as the highest quality in the country.

Distinction in research and scholarship

  • Collectively, the faculty will present a well-integrated research portfolio that reflects expertise in health and pharmaceutical care research dealing with issues of access, cost, quality, and outcomes of care.
  • Research and scholarship distinction by faculty and graduate students is a measure of the department’s ability to compete at the national level.

Eminence in service to the professional community and state

  • In order to distinguish the department as a high quality service provider, departmental faculty must be visible and recognized as contributing members of our academic and professional community.
  • The department will work to advance pharmacy practice by utilizing faculty and staff strengths to meet the developmental needs of the profession and health care needs of the state.

Enhancement of department resources

  • The acquisition of sufficient professional resources within the department is essential for the fulfillment of our mission and our success.
  • Professional grants and contracts, constituent support, and department development activities are valued and encouraged by the department.
