Service

Faculty in the Department of Pharmaceutical Systems and Policy (PSP) provide leadership, assistance, and expertise to:

The health outcomes research field (including pharmacoeconomics) through a variety of activities including: peer reviewing of grant applications, manuscripts, and presentation of abstracts; assuming leadership roles in various discipline-specific organizations; serving on discipline-specific committees; consulting and providing expert opinion; thus influencing the direction, dynamics, and impact of the field.

The profession of pharmacy at the state and national levels by supporting the advancement of quality pharmaceutical care by providing pharmacy practitioners with professional development opportunities (continuing education); conducting and disseminating the results of research relevant to practice; and providing advocacy for the profession of pharmacy within federal and state agencies.

West Virginia University and WVU School of Pharmacy through student recruiting, advising, and mentoring; membership on committees; reviewing and providing expert opinion on institutional issues and activities; and representing the institution at a variety of local, national, and international events.

The citizens of West Virginia and beyond through direct service programs that emphasize excellence and attention to citizen and state agency needs; communicating professional and scientific knowledge to enhance learning, training, and education; defining new opportunities to improve health, well-being, and quality of life; stimulating economic development; and serving as a knowledge resource.
