Social News (P-1,2,3,4): Congratulations to P-4 David Hendren who recently became engaged on Sept. 23rd to Allyson Reger, from Charleston, WV, a pharmaceutical sales rep. in Morgantown WV. A September '07 wedding is in the works. WVU Reception at ASHP Mid-Year Meeting ( P-1,2,3,4): Any and all students who attend the ASHP Mid-year Clinical Meeting in Anaheim are welcome to attend the WVU Reception, which will be held Sunday, Dec. 3, from 6-7:30 PM in the Anaheim Marriott ( exact room location TBA). Interns needed- Morgantown area: Self-care for Pregnant Women (P-1,2,3,4): Attention all!!! Would you like to learn more about self-care for pregnant women? What to recommend and what you should avoid? Look no further: Lambda Kappa Sigma is hosting a School of Pharmacy Presentation on Over-the-Counter Medication and Pregnancy. The presentation will be given by Dr. Dunsworth on November 8th (next Wednesday) from 12:00-1:00 in the HSC main auditorium. There will be minor refreshments provided. Appointments can be made online at www.givelife.org and by calling 1-800 GIVE LIFE. Students receive community service hours for donating. Thank you for giving the gift of life. Student Pharmacist Leader of the Month (P-1,2,3,4): Phi Lambda Sigma Leadership Society is continuing the "Student Pharmacist Leader of the Month" program which recognizes the dedicated leaders within the WVU School of Pharmacy. Each month PLS members will choose a new student to be recognized based on nomination forms sent in by peers, faculty, or staff. PLS members are not eligible for this award, but all other P1s-P4s are welcome. If someone who is nominated is not chosen one month, they may stay in the application pool to be chosen for the next month. Winners will receive a certificate and recognition on the PLS board in the 8th floor Mylan Center hallway. This would be something great to add to a CV or resume! Forms for October are due by Wednesday, November 8 by 1pm in mailbox #984 or to aprice@sole.wvu.edu. Thank you for supporting the leaders of pharmacy. Click here for the form. ASHP Fundraiser for WVU Children's Hospital (P-1,2,3,4): ASHP is joining the efforts of 102 WVAQ and BB&T in raising money for WVU Children's Hospital. Over the next week ASHP members will be collecting spare change from students and faculty in the School of Pharmacy. ASHP members will be asking for change donations from each class on Monday and Wednesday, November 6 and 8. Please bring any extra change you have laying around (including all of those pennies you can't seem to get rid of) on those days. Cash and check donations (made out to WVU Children's Hospital) will be accepted as well. One hour of community service will be given to individuals making a donation of $5 or more.
