Congratulations to P-4 Kristen Engel and her husband Erich (Class of '06) on the birth of their daughter Abigail Elisabeth who was born early in the morning on July 19. Official stats on Ms. Engel- 7 lbs 10 oz, 20 3/4 inches, lots of brown hair.

Congratulations to P-4 Lindsay Covert who became engaged to Brian Camerlin (Class of 2005) over the summer. A summer 2007 wedding is in the planning.

Congratulations to P-3 Ashley Hayes who became engaged to Chad Griffith, a 2004 WVU Engineering grad on April 1, 2006. The wedding is being planned for January 6, 2007.

(NOTE- the MOW welcomes celebratory news such as the above, but the news must come from the student(s) directly involved).

Name Tag Orders (P-1,2,3,4): P-3 Lindsey Gorrell will be placing another order for name tags, so upperclass students, if you need replacements, please contact Lindsey at lgorrell@sole.wvu.edu .

SOP Mixer (P-1,2,3,4): All students, faculty and staff are invited to attend the annual Back-to-School Mixer, which will be held Wednesday evening, August 30, from 8-11 PM at De Lazy Lizard at 345 High Street. Because this is a popular spot in Morgantown's nightlife scene and we will have exclusive use of the second floor room, the establishment asks that we note the following security restrictions:

Those under 21 must leave at 11 pm. Everyone that is under 21 must be at Lazy Lizard by 9 pm.

We will have Papa John's Pizza and probably a DJ. Student organizations will have informational displays set up.

LKS Planners (P-1,2,3,4): Thanks so much to those of you who purchased a School of Pharmacy planner to support Phi Lambda Sigma. We have several left over and would like to again offer these to anyone interested. They are set out in the clinical pharmacy office and are still $6.00. Please stop by the office or email me if you are interested and I will make sure you get one. Thanks!

Checking in to See Ms. See (P-1,2,3,4): A reminder that students who need to meet with Ms. See are to first check in at the Clinical Department Main Desk (room 1120) and not enter through the glass "back" door at the end of the hallway that leads to her office. This will help keep the noise level down in that hallway where many faculty have their office.

NCPA Thanks (P-1,2,3,4): Many thanks to those who contributed to last spring's NCPA-coordinated Tools for Teeth project for the School of Pharmacy. Over 200 dental kits were created and distributed to area social service agencies.

HSC Shuttle Stops (P-1,2,3,4): As construction started on the coliseum side of the HSC, faculty and staff parking was relocated to the east side of HSC in order to give patient parking priority. Although the parking on the coliseum side of HSC gives patients priority, the need for patient parking often exceeds the parking capacity available. As a result patients who are not frail or in acute distress are given parking in Lot 81 and asked to take the parking shuttle. For the convenience of our patients and to maintain our commitment to patient service, we have added a shuttle stop on the coliseum side of HSC. While this change does increase the shuttle cycle time slightly, we ask for your understanding and tolerance as we collectively work to maintain our commitment to our patients.

New HSC Library Database O.T. Search (P-1,2,3,4): The Health Sciences Library is pleased to announce the addition of a new electronic resource called O.T. Search. This database brings the literature of occupational therapy together in one place, and it also includes related subjects such as rehabilitation, education, psychiatry/psychology, and health care delivery/administration. The full text of the indexed resources is not in O.T. Search, just the bibliographic information to identify the material and the author's abstract when one exists.
O.T. Search can be accessed from the alphabetical database list at www.libraries.wvu.edu/databases. Any questions, problems, or other feedback can be addressed to Susan Arnold at 293-2105 or susan.arnold@mail.wvu.edu.

Blood Drives (P-1,2,3,4): There will be a blood drive on Wednesday, August 30 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the John Jones Conference Center. Appointments can be made online at www.redcrosslife.org. Individuals who donate blood through September 30 during the Red Cross' "Keep the Motor Runnin'" campaign will be eligible to win a 2006 Harley Davidson Fat Boy! All presenting donors will receive a biker t-shirt (while supplies last). Thank you for giving the gift of life. ( As before, a donation of a pint of blood merits 2 hours of community service).

Free Bus Transportation (P-1,2,3,4): WVU-Mountain Line expand partnership to offer new bus routes, ease traffic congestion Imagine the Downtown Campus with less traffic at the peak of class change.. Now, imagine traveling through Sunnyside without vehicular and pedestrian tie-ups. Beginning Saturday, July 22, those scenarios may be possible when WVU and the Mountain Line Transit Authority join forces on a project to expand local bus routes in the city. The initiative, according to officials, is aimed at alleviating traffic congestion and expanding transportation options for students and employees, as well as community residents and visitors. The plan calls for:
• adding a continuous Mountain Line bus route - the Blue & Gold Connector - from Grant Avenue along Beechurst Avenue. to the Creative Arts Center, along Evansdale Drive by Engineering and Towers, to University Avenue by the College of Law, and back down Eighth Street to Grant/Summit and Life Sciences. This new express bus line will operate year-round, seven days a week, every 20 minutes. Hours will be 6:30 a.m.-11 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 6:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Sundays, with slightly varied summer hours. The service is free to students and employees with valid ID and the normal fare (75 cents) for other riders.
• adding bus shelters, where appropriate, along the new route WVU officials say the new bus route is in addition to the current arrangement they have with Mountain Line that allows students and employees with valid WVU ID to ride any regular bus routes for free, whether it’s the Orange, Red, Gold, Campus PM, or any of the other 11 countywide bus lines. In addition to the new route and services, students and employees are reminded that WVU will continue its current PRT and University bus service schedules. For information on the new and current routes, go to www.busride.org, e-mail info@busride.org or call 291-RIDE
