NCPA Meeting (P-1,2,3,4): NCPA's first open meeting will be Friday, September 22 in room 1106. LKS Dues (P-1,2,3,4): If you were not able to attend the LKS meeting last week and are interested in joining this organization, please contact Ashley Reed at areed@sole.wvu.edu for more information. Also, don't forget that the LKS dues are due by Friday, Sept. 29th at noon to Amanda Preston. Make checks payable to LKS and place them in mailbox # 983. T-shirts (P-1,2,3,4): This is a reminder that money for the "Real Men Marry Pharmacists" T-shirts is due in mailbox 1155 by this Friday, September 22. ASP Meeting (P-1,2,3,4): ASP will be having their first general meeting on Monday, September 25th at noon in room 3084. Community Service opportunities (P-1,2,3,4): Morgantown Hospice is looking for volunteers to either work in their Maple Drive offices (answering phones and assisting with office work) or deliver brochures to various sites in Morgantown. Earn community service hours in a friendly environment with the knowledge that you're helping families live life to the fullest in their last months together. (P-1,2,3,4): The preliminary rounds of the Pharmacy Football playoffs will be held Wednesday, October 18 for both the men's & women's divisions. The championship game for both divisions will be held Thursday, October 19. All games will be played on the intramural field on the north side of the HSC. Faculty are encouraged to attend, especially in a cheerleading or first-aid providing role. Bring ice, bandages and other assorted first aid supplies. ASHP Clinical Skills Competition (P-3,4): The annual ASHP WVU school-level Clinical Skills Competition will be held in mid-October, exact date TBA. In the competition, teams of two compete for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes. Each of these 3 teams will receive a cash prize and a certificate. The 1st place team will also win a FREE trip to the ASHP meeting this December in Anaheim, where they will compete against the winning teams from other schools of pharmacy for the national championship. NB: The team representing WVU will have to arrive in Anaheim on December 1st. Teams will have 2 hours to review patient profile data, review references and formulate a written pharmacist care plan. Each team will also present a 5 minute verbal presentations of the care plan to judges. The competition will take place in Morgantown in the Mylan center (8th floor) and in Charleston (WVU school building). A sign up sheet will be placed in the clinical department on the reception area counter by Mrs. Tammy Blake. When you sign your team up list if you are competing in Morgantown or Charleston. Individuals without a teammate can sign up (we will try to find you a partner). P-4s (not currently in Morgantown) wishing to compete can sign up by e-mailing Dr. Slain (dslain@hsc.wvu.edu) with your names and site at which you wish to compete. Once you sign-up, You will be e-mailed info about the competition and a sample case. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Dr. Slain. |
