Society news: Congratulations to P-1 Jordan McPherson who became engaged to Tabitha DeMarco, a nursing major at WVU-P from Hendersonville, TN. An October, 2012 weeding is being planned. Kappa Psi Annual Halloween Party (P-1,2,3,4): The annual School of Pharmacy Halloween Party hosted by Kappa Psi will be this Thursday, October 29th at de Lazy Lizard on High Street! The upstairs room has been rented from 8-11pm. Tickets will be $5 for non-Kappa Psi members and guests and $3 for Kappa Psi brothers and pledges. To not pay an additional cover at the door, you should be in line by 8:30pm. Anyone under 21 must be there before 9pm (in line by 8:30pm is suggested). You can sign up and pay either Nicki Shumiloff (P3), Kayla Cline (P2), or Jon Flanagan (P1) by Wednesday! There’ll be costume contests and prizes for the winners so dress to impress! SOP Pumpkin carving contest (P-1,2,3,4): A reminder that the annual SOP pumpkin carving contest will be held this Friday, Oct. 30. Entries are to be dropped off (gently) at 10 AM in the first floor area of the SOP. See attached for more details…. Awesome Auction (P-1,2,3,4): Yes, it’s almost Auction time again. Time to pool your $ to grab that dinner, trip or can’t-live-without item or holiday gift being offered at this year’s Auction, Monday, November 9, starting at 4 PM in the Patteson Auditorium. Also time to think about what service or item you can donate for the auction. Faculty love to bid on student- provided baby or house or pet sitting service or a car wash or truck borrowing or garage/basement cleanout or yard/leaf clean-up service or baked goods, etc., etc. etc.. Please submit your auction item or service to Mrs. Higa at bhiga@hsc.wvu.edu . Proceeds go to support student travel to regional and national meetings. SSHP Midyear Meeting Spaghetti Lunch Fundraiser (P-1,2,3,4): AASP will be conducting a spaghetti lunch fundraiser Thursday, Nov. 5, 11:30-1:30 in the Wigner Suite. See attached… ASP (P-1,2,3,4): - Next ASP General Meeting will be on Wednesday 11/4 @ noon in room 3084. Please come for a raffle of 2 gift cards to Red Lobster (ASP member only)! Pharmacy Month Speakers (P-1,2,3,4): Our last (but certainly not least) pharmacy month speakers will be here tomorrow (Oct. 29th) at noon in room 1901. The speakers are from Mylan and will serve on a panel discussing careers in the pharmaceutical industry: Andrea Miller, RPh, JD, Senior Vice President Global Regulatory Affairs Ronald Selders, RPh, MBA,Director,Global Product Safety and Risk Management Deneen Fumich, RPh, Senior Project Manager, Government Relations All student pharmacists and faculty are welcomed to attend. Feel free to bring any questions you have about the pharmaceutical industry, especially pertaining to careers as pharmacists in these particular settings.
