MOW 2009-10
Ed. Note: Due to changes in the HSC e-mail provider service, the look and format of the MOW will be a bit different than in years past. We will resume the former format if and when bugs in the new service can be corrected. As in the past, the intent is to deliver the MOW on Wednesday evenings, so the weekly deadline for persons or organizations wishing to have an item published in the MOW is 5 PM Wednesdays. Welcome & Welcome Back (P-1,2,3,4): Welcome to the 83 members of the class of 2013 and welcome back to the classes of 2012, ‘11 and ’10! We start the academic year with 337 students, the largest student body in the history of the school! Society News (P-1,2,3,4): Congratulations to P-4 Julie Hull, who became engaged to Nathan Horne on July 11. Nathan is a WVU Computer Science grad, class of ’06 and is employed at Electronic Warfare Associates in Fairmont. Wedding plans TBD. P-4 Shari Sandor recently got engaged to Matthew Jernigan (also from Fairmont). He is a 2008 WVU grad from exercise physiology. A fall (2010) is being planned. P-3’s Jeremy Prunty and Leesa Shine who became engaged (to each other) while at the beach this summer. Wedding plans TBD. P-2 Sarah Feathers who married Justin Rogers of Glen Ellyn, IL on August 8. Justin is employed as a statistician for Abbott Laboratories Back-to School Mixer ( P-1,2,3,4): APhA-ASP, Kappa Psi and LKS welcome all students, faculty and staff to the annual Back to School Mixer, which will be held this Friday evening at de Lazy Lizard , 345 High Street, 8 – 10 PM. All students, faculty and staff are welcome. Beverage specials available, wristbanded DD’s get soft drinks free. If you are under 21, be there by 8:30pm. No cover until 9pm. Hope to see everyone there! Blood Drive (P-1,2,3,4): There will be a blood Drive on Wednesday, September 9 from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the john Jones Conference Center. To make your appointment, log on to www.givelife.org. Students receive community service hours for donating. Thank you for giving the gift of life. Ordering New or Additional Name tags (P-1,2,3,4): Kappa Psi is currently taking orders for name tags. The cost per name tag is $10.00. If you would like to place an order, please complete the order form below by Friday,September 11 th, with a check made payable to Kappa Psi. Please place your check in the Kappa Psi Student Organization mailbox (in the Pharmacy Office on the 5 th floor) or give it to Nicki Shumiloff or Kayla Cline. New Parking Regulations (P-1,2,3,4): Lot 81 permits have been exhausted; those without a permit are encouraged to park at the Coliseum and take the PRT or utilize apartment complex shuttle services. To protect the availability of parking for those who have paid permits, those illegally parked will face higher fines ($20/citation) and, towing when the number of unpaid citations reaches 10. PLS Planners (P-1,2,3,4): Phi Lambda Sigma still has some WVU School of Pharmacy planners available for sale for $7.00. Please e-mail Peyton Morhous at emorhous@sole.wvu.edu if you are interested. Healthcare Professionals Night at PNC (P-1,2,3,4) : The Pittsburgh Pirates have designated Friday, September 25 as Healthcare Professionals Night. It's Fan-voted Bobblehead Night - Dollar Hot Dog Night and the LA Dodgers are in town.
