Society News: Congratulations to: P-4 Ashley Lewis who became engaged Saturday to her life-long friend (and now fiancé), Benjamin McDonald, while boating on a lake in the Poconos. Benjamin is an electrical engineer with Lockheed-Martin in Akron, OH. The wedding has been set for Sept 4, 2010. ASP/SSHP Joint Training (P-1,2,3): For members of ASP and/or SSHP interested in being trained in Operation Diabetes/Cholesterol/Blood Pressure/Body Fat Analysis a training session will be held on Monday 9/14 at noon. Training will begin in the Okey Patteson Auditorium. Please print the attached OSHA training form and bring it with you to the session. For those interested in Cholesterol training please also print and bring the device safety forms attached. One hour of community service is available for those who attend. Heartburn Awareness Training (P-1,2,3): Heartburn Awareness will be conducting two training sessions in the month of September. The first training session will be on Monday September 14 th from 12:00-12:50 in room 1909, and the second session will be on Wednesday September 23 rd from 12:00-12:50 in room 1905. Attendance is required for one session only, as each session will contain the same material. Anyone who completed training in previous years will need to be trained again in order to participate in patient screening. Community service will be offered to those who attend. Any questions please contact Leah Glasgow at lglasgow@sole.wvu.edu LKS Social ( P-1,2,3): Lambda Kappa Sigma would like to invite everyone interested in joining LKS to an ice cream social at Krepp's Park from 4:30-6:30pm on Monday, Sept. 14th. We will have ice cream with all the toppings and will go over how to join LKS. After the ice cream and discussion, we will be playing frisbee, volleyball, etc. so if you have any outdoor games you would like to bring, please feel free to do so! This is our last meeting/activity before initiation, so if you are unable to make it and are interested in joining, please e-mail Stephanie at sfield@sole.wvu.edu or Peyton at emorhous@sole.wvu.edu. ASP (P1,2,3,4) - Hello! :) Since you have been given a taste of what ASP is like on the national level, it is very important that you come to our next informational/general meeting on Wed. Sept. 16th @ noon in 3084. The content of the meeting will be different from the meeting on 9/3. You will find out what exactly ASP does on the local level in our student chapter. You will learn about all the different activities that we have planned for the semester. You will get a personal touch on all of our patient care projects and learn about how you can get involved with ASP with all the opportunities that we provide. You do not want to miss out!!
