Exam Calendars & Exam Blocks (P-1,2,3): Fall semesterexam calendars are available on line at http://www.hsc.wvu.edu/sop/students/Registration_Schedules/Fall2009/2009_Calendars/index.html . Unused exam block times are being reserved for special SOP programming. If an event gets scheduled, students will be notified via email and the master exam calendar will be updated to reflect this change. Parking Gates for Lots 84 & 81 (P-1,2,3,4): For the protection of pedestrians, use of the parking area on the north side of the HSC as a shortcut for vehicles is no longer permitted. Effective September 21, the gates in parking areas Area 80 and Area 84 will be closed from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. Access will be for permit holders only. These gates are located in the parking area below the Erma Byrd Biomedical Building and on the roadway between the Van Voorhis lots (e.g. 81, the pit) and the rear of the HSC. Seasonal flu vaccinations to be provided free to employees and students (P-1,2,3,4): HSC employees Student Health Service will provide seasonal flu vaccinations to HSC employees with I.D. from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 22 in the John E. Jones Conference Center. The vaccines are free as long as supplies last. Students For students, Student Health Service will hold two flu shot clinics at the Rec Center. The first clinic will be held Sept. 28 & Oct. 6. Both will start at 3 p.m. and end at 7 p.m. These vaccinations are free. Appointments are not necessary for any of the flu shot clinics. A valid ID is required. H1N1 It is important to note that the seasonal flu vaccine will not protect against H1N1. There’s no word yet on when the H1N1 vaccine will be available to healthcare workers or the general public. Josie’s Story: Patient- and Family-Centered Improvements in Patient Safety (P-1,2,3,4): September 22, 2009 12:00 – 1:00 pm Okey Patteson Auditorium. In light of the recent imprisonment of an Ohio pharmacist for making a fatal medication error, all students should find this to be of particular interest and areencouraged to attend. (see attached flyer) NACDS Scholarship (P-1,2,3): The NACDS Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2009 Pharmacy Student Scholarship Program. Students who have completed their first professional year at a U.S. college or school of pharmacy, and have a strong desire to pursue a career in the chain community pharmacy setting, are encouraged to apply. A minimum of 65 $2,000 scholarships will be awarded. In addition, select recipients will receive named scholarships in the amounts of $2,500, $3,000 or $5,000.
