SOP Spring 2010 course schedule (P-1,2,3): The SOP Spring 2010 schedule of courses (required-including PCL lab section assignments- and electives) can now be accessed at http://www.hsc.wvu.edu/sop/students/Registration_Schedules/index.html . Also listed are the approved professionally related electives. Pumpkin Carving Contest (P-1,2,3,4): The third annual SOP Pumpkin Carving Contest will be held Friday, October 30- see attached flyer for details. Prize monies for the top three vote getters will be awarded by the SOP Alumni Association. Students are also encouraged to display their entry at the WVPA Annual Meeting to be held that weekend at the Stonewall Jackson Resort in Roanoke WV. ASP dues (P-1,2,3,4): ASP membership dues must be paid by Thursday, October 15. They are $58 and can be paid online by visiting pharmacist.com and going to the Member Center. Any last minute questions or issues can be directed to Daphne O'Hara at dohara@sole.wvu.edu. Health Care Reform Session ( P-1,2,3,4): ASP and NCPA will be holding a joint Health Care Reform education session on this Friday October 16th at noon in the Hostler Auditorium. It is a very important topic and the leaders will make it easy to understand! Student ACCP Liaison Needed (P-2,3,4): The American College of Clinical Pharmacy is seeking a student liaison to represent WVU. The student liaison would assist the faculty liaison, Dr. Maynor, in identifying and communicating with students interested in learning more about clinical pharmacy and ACCP’s programs. Additionally, the student liaison could serve as a resource for the National StuNet Advisory Committee, is a standing ACCP committee composed of student members, as they seek to provide input and further develop student-related initiatives as directed by the Board of Regents. The student liaison must be a member of ACCP and a P2, 3,or 4. The American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) is a professional and scientific society that provides leadership, education, advocacy, and resources enabling clinical pharmacists to achieve excellence in practice and research. ACCP's membership is composed of practitioners, scientists, educators, administrators, students, residents, fellows, and others committed to excellence in clinical pharmacy and patient pharmacotherapy. Anyone interested should contact Dr. Maynor prior to November 15. Opening of the WVU Simulation Training Center (P-1,2,3,4):The grand opening of the WVU Simulation Training Center will be held Oct 16. The Center is located 3 rd floor, HSC-South, near the elevators. ASP Game Day T-Shirts (P-1,2,3,4): The ASP "Pharmacy-We Count by 7 on Gamedays" t-shirts are finally here! Please plan to pick-up your order(s) Thurs & Fri @noon, outside of Room 1901. Pharmacy Month Speaker (P-1,2,3,4): The second Pharmacy Month speaker will be here on Thursday, October 22nd. Patty Johnston will be giving a presentation on the various aspects of community pharmacy and some of the unique features of Colony Drug at noon in room 1901. Lunch will be provided. (A sign-up sheet will be passed around classes early next week. Please sign-up if you plan to attend so we know how much food to purchase.) CVS Picnic Tomorrow (P-1,2,3,4): A reminder that the CVS picnic will be held tomorrow, Thursday, October 15 th, from 5-7pm at Dorsey‘s Knob Park. It is a great networking opportunity and gathering among student pharmacists as a celebration of Pharmacy Month. Catering will be provided on behalf of CVS and there are many gifts and prizes to be won! Don’t miss out on the chance to take home free stuff!
