Society News (P-1,2,3,4): Congratulations to P-3 Amber Price who became engaged to Clint Chiplinski, WVU Masters in Elementary Education student, over the semester break. An August 2008 wedding is in the planning. P-2 Sarah Spurlock who became engaged to Jimmie Clegg, Marshall Masters in Psychology student, on New Years Day. A fall 2009 wedding is being planned. Financial Aid Checks (P-1,2,3,4): Students should have received their Spring 2007 semester financial aid checks. If not, check your MIX account for a status report. HSC Library Now Open (P-1,2,3,4): The new section of the HSC Library (now referred to as the HSC Learning Center) has opened for student use. For now, access is limited to the second floor hallway entrance, just south of the old entrance. Study rooms may be reserved for small groups- see the main desk for instructions on how to reserve a room. Check out the new computer stations and the bright, airy atmosphere. CBLC has moved (P-12,3,4): The HSC has also relocated to the new Library area, the old location in the South tower has closed. Blood Drive (P-,2,3,4): There will be a blood drive on Thursday, January 18, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the John Jones Conference Rooms. Appointments can be made online at www.givelife.org or by calling 1-800-GIVE LIFE. Students receive two community service hours for donating. AFPE Scholarships and Fellowships (P-3,4): IMPORTANT REMINDER!! Apartment for rent (P-1,2): A P-3 student will be leaving Morgantown for rotations this summer and has a female roommate (school of nursing) who would like to have a health professions student as the second leasee. From the SOP student-" Copperfield Ct.... (They're really nice and about a 5 minute walk to the hospital.) The rent is $350/month and the lease starts in June. Part-time Jobs at Mylan (P-1,2): Two 20-hour/week positions available- see attached for details. AMCP/FMCP/Pfizer Managed Care Summer Internship Program (P-2,3): A reminder that applications are due January 29,2007. For details see the SOP MOW # 0607-14. AACP/Wal-Mart Annual Conference Scholarship Program (P-1,2,3): For students who are considering a career in academia, AACP is delighted to announce the third year of the Wal-Mart Annual Conference Scholarship Program. The application due date is Tuesday,April 3, 2007. Graduate students, professional (doctoral) students, residents, and fellows, along with their faculty mentors, are eligible to apply for the scholarships.
The program will provide $1,000 travel scholarships to fifty-sixty (50-60) student-faculty pairs from AACP member institutions to attend the AACP Annual Meeting and the AACP Teachers Seminar in Orlando, Florida from July 14-18, 2007. The scholarship is intended to be used for Annual Meeting and Teachers Seminar registration for the student (100% of early student registration) and the faculty member (50% of early registration). Beyond registration, the applicants can choose to apply the remainder of the scholarship to airfare, lodging, and other meeting expenses for the student. Summer Internship (P-1,2): The VA Medical Center in St. Cloud Minnesota announces the availability of two summer internship positions for 2007.
