Thanks for Supporting the Relay for Life Bracket Benefit (P-1,2,3,4): From Brad Evans and Amanda Harry-Thank you to all P-2's, P-3's, faculty, and their family and friends who contributed to the NCAA Bracket benefitting Relay for Life. We were able to raise $180 for Relay for Life. First place was awarded to Danny Lovins (P2), second place was awarded to Dana Stone (P2), and third place was awarded to Lindsey Gorrell (P3). $45, $25, and $10 gift certificates were given to the winners. Joys of Life News (P-1,2,3,4): P-1 Brian Schelhaus became engaged to his girlfriend of almost 3 and 1/2 years, Audrey Chase, over spring break. No wedding date has been planned as of yet. Lab Coats are in (P-1,2,3): Kaitlyn McDowell will have them for the 2nd years and Jenn Rinkes will be distributing 1st and 3rd years. Please make every effort to get your lab coats from Jenn ASAP;she will be sitting at the Relay for Life table at lunch if you are not able to catch her during class. WVSHP/WVPA (P-1,2,3,4): WVSHP and WVPA are holding their annual meeting at Waterfront Place Hotel in Morgantown on April 20 - 21, and students are encouraged to attend. The program consists of a variety of sessions on contemporary pharmacy topics, and pharmacists from all over the state will be attending. Cost for students is $25, whether you attend one or both days -- you do NOT need to be a member of WVSHP or WVPA to participate. Please see the attached brochure for details and registration information. Parking Permit Renewals (P-1,2,3): Student parking permit renewals are now being accepted through Monday, April 30. Renewals may be completed on-line at https://parking.wvu.edu , or at the Parking Office located in the University Services Building between the hours of 7:30am to 4:30pm. This renewal will be for 14 months as the Parking Office aligns its permit renewal effective dates to the University's fiscal year. Rates for the upcoming renewal are $238 for a paved lot and $182 for a gravel lot.
New permits must be requested via a form from HSC Facilities Management ( HSC room G 350) which is then taken to the Parking Office. Blood Drives (P-1,2,3,4): There will be blood drives on Wednesday, April 18, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Friday, April 20, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Both blood drives will be in the John Jones Conference Center, Room A. To make an appointment log on to www.redcrosslife.org or call 1-800-GIVE LIFE. LKS SOP Shorts (P-1,2,3,4): WVU School of Pharmacy shorts are being sold by Lambda Kappa Sigma. There are 2 selections: longer knee-length Mesh shorts OR shorter cotton cheer-type shorts. All shorts will be Navy Blue with a gold emblem on the front left leg that says WVU School of Pharmacy. Sizing for the mesh shorts are men's sizes and the cost is $15 a pair. Sizing for the cotton shorts are junior's and the cost is $10 a pair. You can order these in class or by emailing Megan Zimm at mzimm@sole.wvu.edu Orders will be placed Tuesday April 17, and they will be finished in time for delivery before summer break. Please make checks out to LKS and place them in mailbox 1155. P4's, we can mail these to you! Summer intern positions available (P-1,2): VAMC (Huntington) The VA Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia is now seeking applicants for a pharmacy intern position. The position would involve experience in both inpatient pharmacy and outpatient pharmacy, as well as potential to assist with clinical and administrative activities. The intern would work full-time in the summer months, with possibility of weekends and holidays throughout the year. The position pays $12.40/hour.
