Newest Mountaineer (P-1,2,3,4): Michelle & Chris Kennedy welcomed Ethan Christopher Kennedy into the world on February 14, 2008. He weighed 8 lbs 6 oz and was 22 inches long. Mama and baby doing well. Community Service Opportunity (P-1,2,3,4): On Saturday, March 1, Health Right will be having an Open Volunteer Day from 10 am to 5 PM. They will have several projects lined up for the volunteers. This is a good opportunity to earn community service. Please contact Darien Bloom if you are planning on attending so she can make sure she has enough projects for all the volunteers who show. Her phone number is 292-8234 or you can email her at dbkcreations@gmail.com Clarksburg Area Internship (P-1,2): Kroger Store #688, at 770 West Pike St in Clarksburg is looking for 2 to 3 pharmacy interns. Weekends are preferred but any evening of the week would be accommodated. The schedule can be flexible and holiday work is available. Long term availability is preferred. We can offer 40 hour weeks during the summer. We may be a distance from Morgantown, but the environment would benefit both the student and Kroger. Contact Trish Winland at 623-0091. Smoke-free Mon. County (P-1,2,3,4): from Lindsey Koliscak and Lindsay Taylor, ASP Tobacco Awareness Co-Chairs- There is currently a proposal to make Mon County 100% smoke free. The public may submit their comments to the Mon. County Board of Health through March 16th. Attached are two templates(letter and e-mail)you may use to support the Mon County Clean Indoor Air Regulation. The preferred way to contact them is via e-mail at info@monchd.org, but you may mail to Monongalia County Board of Health, Re: Monongalia County Clean Indoor Air Regulation, 453 Van Voorhis Road, Morgantown, WV 26505, as well. You may count the time you spend writing as 1 hour of community service! Polar Plunge SOP Results (P-1,2,3,4): Congrats to Todd Lemley and the P-2 class for raising the most individual and class $ for the event; Todd brought in over $800 and altogether the SOP raised $2253 this year. Understand the temperature was a balmy 47 this year! NYC Bus Trip (P-1,2,3,4): LKS is organizing a chartered bus trip to New York City! The bus will leave from Area 81 at 10:00 PM on Friday, April 4. We will stop at a truck stop outside of the city where we can freshen up and will arrive in NYC early Saturday morning. Passengers will have all day on Saturday to do whatever they like in the city. The bus will leave from NYC at 11:00 PM Saturday night and return to Morgantown on Sunday morning. The cost is $70 per passenger and seats are limited. Because of the limited number of seats, spots will be sold on a first-come-first-serve basis. The spots are open to all SOP students, faculty, and staff, plus one guest if you chose to bring one. If you would like to reserve a spot, please fill out the attached form and give it and your money to Christina Hedrick (a P3) by Friday February 29th at 12:00 PM. Please give these things directly to Christina so we can determine who's forms and money were turned in first (don't put it in her mailbox).
