Time-line/Checklist for Pre-pharmacy Students
Apply to WVU or another US Accredited College or University at which you will take the pre-pharmacy curriculum.
Once accepted to that School, prepare a plan of study.
After Freshman Year, begin to prepare your Pharmacy School application through the Pharmacy College Application Service (PharmCAS) when the application cycle launches at www.PharmCAS.org (usually launches by June 1).
Begin to prepare to take the PCAT (Pharmacy College Admissions Test). Earliest offering is usually in June, but is also offered in the Fall and in the Spring.
Register to take the PCAT exam through the online registration process at www.pcatweb.info.
Be sure you have your scores sent to PharmCAS NOT WVU (i.e. use code 104 to send one of the score reports you get with your registration for the PCAT).
Consider whom you will ask to serve as your recommenders.
Those applying for 2009 admission should have accomplished the previous items and begin starting on the next item.
Finish PharmCAS application by appropriate deadline. For the 2009 cycle, the deadline is December 1, 2008.
Your completed PharmCAS application must be submitted by this date.
Your transcripts are to be received at PharmCAS by this date.
Your PharmCAS application fee must be submitted by this date.
Your letters of recommendation must be submitted by this date.
Complete supplemental application only if contacted to do so by the School of Pharmacy.
Update your Fall grades and indicate what course work you have scheduled or planned for Spring 2009 semester once you are invited to do the academic update window of PharmCAS.
Prepare for your interview.
Do mock interviews.
Be prepared to talk about yourself assuming the person interviewing has not seen a PharmCAS application or any transcripts on you.
If you don’t have appropriate interview clothing, purchase or borrow appropriate attire in which to interview. (professional dress = suit and tie, business suits, etc.).
