One TouchR Ping(TM)

As of July 1st 2008, the FDA cleared the new One TouchR Ping.  The meter-pump combination allows insulin pump patients to have a more convenient control over their diabetes.  The meter is a remote that sends data from the meter to the pump by wireless communication.  This allows the patient to be more discrete when adjusting the basal rate or administering a bolus dose.  The meter can also calculate, and have the pump deliver, the basal and bolus doses necessary based on information in the meter without touching the insulin pump.  The meter can be programmed and personalized with ezManager MAX Diabetes Management Software.  The meter-remote can also help calculate bolus doses by using CalorieKingR, which is a program that allows for easy and accurate carb counting.  Using the ezManager software, the patient can even add their own foods to the CalorieKing program.    

The insulin pump comes in five different colors, and it is waterproof for up to 12 feet for 24 hours, two features that make this insulin pump more personal and discrete in comparison with other pumps.  Also, the One TouchR Ping offers the lowest basal increments and lowest bolus doses available which allows for more precision and better control.  The One TouchR Ping will be available for shipment in mid August 2008, and customers can order at any time by calling 1-877-937-7867 or visit www.animascorp.com.
