WVCDHI Collection

The WVCDHI maintains a fairly extensive number of current information resources. Journals available within the WVCDHI include, but are not limited to, JAMA, The New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, Annals of Pharmacotherapy, Pharmacotherapy, and the International Journal of Pharmaceutical Compounding. Further, The Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Library is located one floor above the WVCDHI and has an extensive journal and reference collection. The WVCDHI has access to and utilizes frequently the Internet and web-based resources such as MEDLINE, CANCERLIT other NLM databases, and helpful web sites such as the CDC, NIH, and FDA. International Pharmaceutical Abstracts is also available online and in print, and the WVCDHI subscribes to the comprehensive Micromedex® information system. Many different medicine and pharmacy texts, compendia, newsletters, and abstracting services are available in the WVCDHI. These include references such as Drug Facts and Comparisons, AHFS Drug Information, Meyler's Side Effects of Drugs, USP DI Volumes I, II, and III, Handbook of Nonprescription Drugs, ADI, Drugs in Pregnancy and Lactation, Pharmacotherapy, Applied Therapeutics, Drug Interaction Facts, Drug Interactions Analysis and Management, EDI, and various general and specialized texts. Newsletters that the WVCDHI routinely subscribes to include The Medical Letter on Drugs and Therapeutics, The Pharmacist's Letter, and Internal Medicine Alert. Natural products resources available in the WVCDHI include, but are not limited to, Natural Products Comprehensive Database, Review of Natural Products, Toxicology and Clinical Pharmacology of Herbal Products, The Complete German Commission E Monographs, and The PDR for Natural Products. Other types of resources available in the WVCDHI include Clin-Alert, Ident-a-Drug, and the Pharmacy Law Digest.
