The Transgenic Animal Core Facility (TACF) was established in 2004 at the West Virginia University, Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center to serve the research staff at West Virginia University, the Blanchette Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute and the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health.  The TACF is housed in a specific pathogen-free, 2500 sq/ft, state-of-the-art, barrier rodent facility that can house up to 8,000 rodents. 

The objective of the TACF is to serve as a central molecular biology resource for the conception and execution of new projects and provide resources to help offset the high costs of developing genetically engineered mice.  Our goal is to provide a facility that ensures better quality control, turn-around time, and cost effectiveness than commercially available services.  The TACF staff is available for education, assistance and consultation during all stages of project development and production.
